India's youth is undeniably the country's greatest strength, yet the lack of essential skills among the youth poses a significant challenge for our nation's progress. Embracing the potential of our youth and investing in skill development are crucial steps towards a brighter future.

I thought coming from South Africa a.k.a "The Rainbow Nation" and living in the United Arab Emirates for almost 20 years (with over 200 nationalities) that made me aware of Diversity & Inclusion.
I assumed that because I'd lead an ERG for over a decade to support, retain, attract and encourage our female colleagues that, that was enough. Exposure by default doesn't necessarily make you aware of how your unconscious biases or how assumptions can unintentionally exclude people. The reality is that we are all so magnificently multilayered and diversity goes so much deeper than nationality and gender.
Learning about and embracing Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) ensures that every person, regardless of their background, age, gender, faith or education, feels valued and respected. It’s everyone’s responsibility to contribute to DEIB by educating themselves, staying curious and open to see a different perspective and actively challenging their biases, advocating for inclusive practices, and creating spaces where all voices are heard and appreciated. By doing so, we pave the way for a more inclusive future where everyone has an opportunity to be heard, seen and valued! In doing so they are given the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to society at large.
We can all play our part in creating a better world.

The importance of education for Afghan women and girls cannot be overstated. It's the path that leads to more freedom, opportunity, and better social outcomes. Education has given countless #Afghan#women the knowledge, skills, and confidence to break free from harmful social norms, pursue their dreams, and contribute in multiple meaningful ways to society.
Under the Taliban, basic rights and liberties, including girls’ right to education, have been stripped away. In search of safety and the opportunity to continue their education and careers, Afghan women and girls are seeking refuge in other countries. Those who have been able to find it cannot afford to go back to live under those conditions.
Oftentimes, immigrant women have fought long and hard to gain education and professional careers in their home country because of restrictive gender norms. And yet when these warrior women come to the United States, they also face gender bias as they attempt to restart their careers.
Over the years, I've witnessed the resilience and determination of many of these women firsthand through my work with Upwardly Global. From our board member, Au Nguyen, who was a marketing specialist at Unilever in Vietnam, only to come here and be told she's only good for doing a nail technician job; to Farzana Jamalzada, who worked hard for her education in Afghanistan; only to find that her skills and degrees weren't valued by U.S. employers.
Through Upwardly Global’s new Women’s Economic Power initiative, we want to make sure that every #immigrant and #refugee woman can continue having access to the knowledge, skills, and other forms of education they need to land skill-aligned employment and thrive. Badrie, what are your thoughts about a robust youth development programme that’s impact-driven, results-focused, and built around social responsibility skills and volunteerism?" asked Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin and 'Aliyah Karen a couple of months back, sparking a meaningful dialogue this morning with Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) team led by CEO Thomas Mathew .
The discussions underscored the vital role of volunteerism, guiding us towards the creation of a robust youth development programme that not only prioritises impact-driven and results-focused methodologies but also creates ethical leaders and profoundly influences societal well-being.
The opportunity to integrate essential skills, alongside embedding the principles of Rukun Negara and the SDGs, presents an exhilarating proposition. Its significance is further amplified by the cohesive strategy that aligns this programme with TalentCorp's broader initiatives, inviting increased participation from other stakeholders, industry partners, and educational institutions.
All good wishes for a successful collaboration.

As we round out the week, still in celebration of Human Rights month, I take time to reflect on the tremendous strides of the industry in creating employment opportunities for South Africa's talented youth. Inclusive hiring has been a priority in the industry for years now and BPESA members and partners have led this charge with intentional purpose.
Opportunities for learning and growth present themselves across platforms such as the BPESA Future Skills Platform (FSP) enabling young South Africans the opportunity to engage a learning journey, preparing themselves for the world of work. Statistics are astounding and the engagement continues to increase for both learners and industry contributors.
Equally, the SA Youth network has also been a fantastic collaboration of government and private sector to support another employment avenue. Thanks to BPESA member partner Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator opportunities for learning and employment engagement of young people in this fast growing sector is tangible and easy to access. In the same breath, employers have access to over 3.5 million talented youth, eager for opportunities to showcase their passion and enthusiasm. During human rights month, noting the simple access to a broad range of diversity the platform offers, with proven benefits of higher levels of staff retention and improved customer support.
The team continues to partner with industry to create an environment where Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI(B)) are the foundations for strengthened businesses. A key mandate BPESA responds to is providing high-quality, information-based services to international clients whilst maintaining the unique industry culture build on a solid and social responsibility foundation. It is equally worth mentioning that we've kicked off with The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF) project, another one-of-a-kind initiative that empowers unemployed women in the country with relevant knowledge and gainful economic upliftment opportunities.
Lastly, thank you to our partners and members who submitted responses to support the Jobs Boost application. Your contributions further highlight the sector growth and ability to support employment creation in the country.

Today, on International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, read some key insights from our report on the employment landscape of racialized Canadians and newcomers:
❌These groups face higher unemployment rates than their Canadian-born and non-racialized counterparts.
❌Systemic and individual discrimination are significant barriers in the labour market, with foreign credentials and international experience often being undervalued.
✅ Solutions include bridging programs, entrepreneurship, work-integrated learning programs, and language and vocational training linked to employers' needs.

🌱 Embracing Sustainable Inclusive Growth! 🤝
The lack of inclusivity drives some of the biggest problems in The Philippines. Many Filipinos are challenged with improving their quality of life as they struggle to access quality food, shelter, education, employment, and capital. Furthermore, Filipino communities may struggle to implement the best solutions produced from diverse perspectives and healthy debate as there are barriers along demographics such as gender, race, sexual orientation or socio-economic background.
We believe that true progress can only come from empowering EVERYONE. 🌟 Sustainable Inclusive Growth means fostering an environment where no one is left behind. 🌏💚 To achieve this, YLIP aims to mobilize teams of students and NGOs drive sustainable inclusive growth for The Philippines - one initiative at a time. 🌳🌲
Want to be part of this change? Join YLIP to develop your skills and take part in creating a more inclusive Philippines. Join any of the upcoming info sessions (note that all sessions are ONLINE)!

I’d like to spotlight an exemplary model we should all follow. When leading companies like DHL take the lead on DEIB, it demonstrates that not only is change possible, but it is also effective. This serves as a prime example of how ambitious initiatives can be successfully implemented.

DEIB is NOT solely a topic about gender ratios amongst employees or management...
For me - and DHL - the core is TO CREATE WORK PLACES, WHERE ONE CAN BE THEIR TRUE SELF- regardless of how we (or others) see our genders, religious approach to life, sexual orientation, ethnicity or other cultural backgrounds, dissabilities (hidden or visible), stages in life (single, couples, families, widowers and other unique relations), age etc.
Coming from a truly diverse (both in Denmark and globally) company it is an immense pleasure for me, that with are partnering with Danish Diversity Awards this year!
A time and place to showcase our own efforts, but more importantly learn from other great companies, who are doing an amazing job all across the DEIB agenda!
Looking forward to Diversity Week in April!

Racial discrimination is a persistent issue that plagues developing countries to this day, with minorities suffering from disparities in terms of treatment, access, and other opportunities. The effects of racial discrimination are even more pronounced for Indigenous women; along with limited opportunities and poorer working conditions, they face lower wages than their non-minority counterparts, may struggle to access essential services, and experience cultural insensitivity in healthcare settings.
Together with the National Forum for Advocacy Nepal (NAFAN), we at the RYTHM Foundation have sought to empower 180 young girls and women from the Chepang tribe in Nepal through leaming opportunities that promote literacy, hygiene, and other critical life skills.
While we mark the #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofRacialDiscrimination on the 21st of March each year, we want to reiterate the importance of taking action every single day by uplifting women from minority groups, ensuring their voices are heard, and creating opportunities for learning and representation!
