According to a Bloomberg report, Qatar Airways is looking at ordering about 200 jets, with a decision possible as soon as the Farnborough Air Show in the UK late next month. The Middle East carrier can order a mix of Airbus A350s and Boeing 777X models. In March, the #NewYorkCity-headquartered international news agency reported that Qatar Airways was in early talks with Boeing and Airbus to order 100 to 150 widebody jets. Top airlines are racing to procure new fuel-efficient widebody jets to keep operating costs down and cater to booming international #travel demand. #bloomberg #middleeast #usatodubai #usatouae #boeing #airbus #airbusa350 #boeing777 #boeing777x #qatarairways #qatarairwayscrew #lcc #lowcosttravel #travelinusa #usaflights #cheaptickets #travelamerica #america #flyusa #flightticket #flightbooking #airfares #usaviation #unitedstates

The more you fly the harder it becomes to keep all your flights on scedule. Looking at total flights Emirates and Qatar should be aiming for the top 5 if not top 3. But they fall short. On the other side of the spectrum Delta, United and American do far more flights than the other 7 combined but still make the top 10 with Delta making the top 5! It will be interesting to dig a bit deeper into the technology levels of the different airlines and how they employ that to help them achieve these results.

✈️ Direct flights from London Heathrow to Nairobi, Kenya! British Airways BA flies from Terminal 5 on an Airbus A350-1000 Kenya Airways KQ flies from Terminal 4 on a Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 At time of booking (March) there wasn’t a big difference in price for Economy Class but this may depend on time of year. I tend to swap between the two and I am mostly dictated by time and convenience. BA is a day flight while KQ is a night flight. BA you can view what movies are on the flight in advance whilst KQ you find out when you get on board. Not a biggy for me. On BA you can collect Avios Points while KQ is a member of SkyTeam Alliance. Which would you pick or do you prefer? #britishairways #kenyaairways #theprideofafrica #everywherewego #a350 #dreamliner #flightreview #airplane #airplanelovers #airplaneview #avgeek #avgeeks #aviation #aviationlovers #aviationdaily #aviationgeeks #A3501000 #a350lovers #economyclass #boeingdreamliner #boeing7878 #airbusa350 #boeinglovers #airbuslovers #avios

The last of the Virgin Australia ATRs has finally found a new home. VH-FVP 𝑊𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑜𝑠 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1025) has spent the last few years parked at Cairns Airport but was recently leased to PNG Air by Aviation PLC. Now entered into the PNG aircraft register as P2-ATZ, the ATR72-600 has started flying domestic routes around Papua New Guinea. It stopped flying for VA in March 2020. Virgin Australia variously operated 12 ATRs over the years, including four ATR72-500s and eight ATR72-600s. The remainder of the planes are now scattered around the world, and all but one are in-service. ch-aviation data gives us an insight on where they ended up. - VH-FVI 𝑀𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 955) is now at Buddha Air as 9N-AOC after a spell flying for India's flybig. - VH-FVL 𝑃𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑛 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 974) went to AERLINK Australia and retains the same registration. Aerlink has stored the plane at Jakarta Soekarno Hatta. - VH-FVU 𝐷𝑜𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝐼𝑠𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑃𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡 (msn 978) went to Canada's North Star Air as C-FNAN. After leaving Virgin Australia the aircraft was converted into a freighter. - VH-FVX 𝐾𝑖𝑟𝑟𝑎 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 986) went to Nepal's Yeti Airlines as 9N-AMZ. - VH-FVN 𝑊ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑒ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1039) is now at MAI Myanmar Airways International as XY-AMU. Three former VA ATR72-600s are now at Greece's OLYMPIC AIR, including VH-FVQ 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1053), now SX-OBO, and VH-FVR 𝑌𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑢𝑝 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1058), now SX-OBM. Both left Virgin Australia in March 2020. The third, VH-FVY 𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑐𝑜𝑜𝑙𝑎 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1073) left VA in November 2018 and operates for Olympic as SX-OBN. The final three former Virgin Australia ATRs are with Emerald Airlines, which wet-leases them to British Airways for regional ops. VH-FVZ 𝐴𝑛𝑔𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑒 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1087) is now EI-HDI; VH-VPI 𝐵𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ (msn 1007) is now EI-GVZ; and VH-VPJ 𝑀𝑜𝑛𝑘𝑒𝑦 𝑀𝑖𝑎 (msn 1169) is now EI-HDH. Except for VH-FVP, which stuck around at Cairns, the ATRs variously exited the VA fleet between September 2017 and April 2021, with most going in the first half of 2020 when Covid hit and the airline filed for administration. Along with the ATRs, the Embraer 170 and 190 types, Boeing 777s, and Airbus 330s, have all disappeared from the Virgin Australia fleet, leaving it with an economically efficient but rather vanilla B737 fleet. #airlines #aviation #fleets #downsizing #restructuring #atr #leases #PNG #aircraft

Another pair of Airbus #A380 superjumbos that had been in long-term storage in Spain since the pandemic has left that country as their respective airline owners look to press them back into regular commercial passenger service. The two aircraft involved, belonging to Abu Dhabi-based Etihad and Germany’s Lufthansa departed Teruel Airport (TEV) in Spain on September 13, 2024, where they have been stored since March 2020 and May 2020 respectively. Both aircraft are understood to be required by their airlines due to the upsurge in travel demand plus the opening of new routes planned to commence in 2025. Interesting insights about Emirates Network Control Centre in Dubai and how each Emirates flight is constantly monitored. ✈️ #Emirates #Flybetter #Dubai #NetworkControlCentre

Dubai-based Emirates airline carries the most international traffic of any airline across the globe. This translates into more than 3,600 flights each week and 520 flights each day to 158 destinations across six continents. Each flight is monitored by its 24x7 Network Control Centre, also called its ‘nerve centre’. The crew control team at the Network Control Centre looks after approximately 27,000 crew members on duty including 22,000 cabin crew and 4,000 flight crew. They deal with last-minute sickness, flight disruptions and they are responsible for finding suitable replacements for crew members who they are not able to make it to a certain flight. Here’s how it works. (Video by Nilanjana Gupta) https://lnkd.in/eACjGctj #airlinesandairplanes #aviation #airtravel

Here is a photo of #ORD's Terminal 5 from a different angle than what I usually post! I took this photo while walking through Terminal 3 when I noticed how nice the #chicago skyline looked in the background! On the left, you can see the West #T5Tower overlooking the western side of the Terminal 5 ramp. Aircraft from British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Austrian Airlines are parked at #TheNewT5 and Cathay Pacific's #A350 can be seen taxiing off of the ramp. On the right, Iberia's #A330 is parked at Terminal 3. They are one of the airlines that arrive at T5 and relocate to other terminals to depart. What do you think about this view of Terminal 5? #aviation #chicago #airportoperations #planespotting

Up to 469 passengers aboard a British Airways flight from Singapore to London Heathrow experienced an unexpected turn of events when the Airbus A380 superjumbo faced technical difficulties shortly after takeoff. Scheduled to depart at 11:20 pm, the flight encountered a separate technical issue, causing a delay of four hours before finally departing at 3:10 am. However, after climbing to 27,000 feet, the pilots were compelled to turn back due to a malfunction with the weather radar. Despite returning to Singapore, the aircraft, laden with fuel for the lengthy journey to London, had to enter a holding pattern to burn off excess fuel for a safe landing. After circling off the coast of Singapore for four hours, the flight was eventually canceled, and passengers were provided accommodation for the night. This incident adds to British Airways' challenges with its fleet of Airbus A380s, which have been plagued by issues since returning from pandemic-induced storage. The affected flight, BA12, was further linked to the cancellation of another flight, highlighting broader ramifications. British Airways expressed regret for the disruption, emphasizing efforts to assist affected passengers and resolve the situation promptly. #BritishAirways #FlightDelay #TechnicalIssues #AirbusA380 #FlightCancellation #PassengerDisruption #FlightChallenges #A380Problems #TravelDisruption #FlightIncident #CustomerAssistance #AirlineChallenges #TravelNews #creativesandconcepts #creativespakistan Read More=> https://lnkd.in/esNw2n_d

🔥 We expect this non-stop route from Qantas to be relatively emissions-intensive vs. an intermediate stop between Paris->Perth (e.g. in Dubai) if flying in the latest generation aircraft with the latest engines in both cases. 💡 This is because: 1. The aircraft carries significantly more fuel to meet the required range which makes take-off/climb/cruise more emissions intensive. The majority of the airframe payload will literally be jet fuel. ⛽ 2. While intermediate stop requires two take-off/climb cycles, each of these is with significantly less take-off weight which reduces those emissions. 🛫 3. The airline is operating the aircraft further away from it's optimum (fuel efficiency) design range. ✈️ 4. To ensure the economics of this operation work (more fuel being carried and less passengers/cargo), airlines tend to operate so-called "ultra-long-haul" flights with a majority or even entirety of premium-class (first, business etc) seating configurations to give higher margins per paying passenger. These seats have far worse emissions/passenger-mile than more densely-packed economy seating configurations. 💸 - Note: clearly it would be possible to operate the aircraft with all economy seating, but in practice this doesn't happen. ❓We'd be interested in others' (e.g. Richard Wilson's, Georgi Atanasov's) views! 🙏 Let us know any Safe Landing followers thoughts! #UltraLongHaul #LongHaul #Aviation
Bonjour Paris 🇫🇷 It’s not every day you get to make history in aviation! Today marks a special day for us at Qantas as we prepare to fly non-stop from Paris to Perth on our Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. It’s an absolute privilege to lead such a dedicated crew on this marathon of a journey. Tracking over Europe, The Middle East and the Indian Ocean prior to arriving on the West coast, our journey is roughly 14600km and will clock in at just under 17 hours. Our Paris service will be our third European destination on the network, joining London and our seasonal Rome service. More choice for our customers means better connectivity more often. Congratulations to all the teams involved in making Paris happen. Qantas once again bringing Australia to the world and the world a little closer to Australia. #spiritofaustralia #qantas Qantas
