As a hiring manager, I hired product trainers. I would hire people with two backgrounds: An elementary school teacher and someone who had worked in tech support. When I was looking for a teacher, I saw how the exact information that I needed to see if I was going to interview someone was missing (all the teaching and curriculum experience). The reason is that I see them trying to fluff or beef up their technical expertise. They're doing that because they think they will not get hired because they don't have tech experience. But if I have someone who knows teaching it inside and out and loves it, it doesn't matter to me if I have to do a little bit of training on tech, right? When they're trying to be something they're not, it gets confusing for a hiring manager.
