Climate change is undeniably one of the most pressing challenges facing our planet today. Its impacts are far-reaching and affect communities worldwide. While it is true that women are often portrayed as victims of climate change, it is essential to recognise that they are also powerful agents of change. Empowering Women as Climate Change Leaders: ⭐ Community Resilience: Women play a crucial role in building resilience within their communities. Whether it's adapting to changing weather patterns, implementing sustainable farming practices, or developing innovative solutions, women are on the front lines, ensuring that their communities are better equipped to face the challenges of climate change. ⭐ Local Advocacy and Activism: Women are active advocates for environmental issues at the local level. From organising grassroots movements to participating in community meetings, women are vocal about the impact of climate change on their lives and are pushing for sustainable policies that prioritise the well-being of both people and the planet. ⭐ Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Women are increasingly involved in eco-friendly entrepreneurship and innovation. They are starting businesses that promote sustainability, developing eco-friendly products, and driving positive change through economic empowerment. ⭐ Education and Awareness: Women are instrumental in raising awareness about climate change and its consequences. Through education and community outreach, they are disseminating information about sustainable practices, renewable energy, and the importance of conservation. ⭐ Global Leadership: Women leaders on the global stage are making significant contributions to the fight against climate change. From policymakers to environmental activists, women are shaping international agendas and influencing decisions that will impact the planet. #COP28 #ClimateAction #sustain267atcop28 #climatejustice #feministcop28 #feministclimatejustice

🚨 NEWS || ARB Verdict: TotalEnergies Caught Misleading on Sustainability Commitment On August 21, 2024, the South African Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) made a pivotal ruling against TotalEnergies, finding their "sustainable development" claim in a partnership with SANParks misleading. The decision followed South Africa's first-ever greenwashing complaint, brought forward by the Fossil Free South Africa through its Fossil Ad Ban campaign. 💬 Why It Matters: TotalEnergies' core business in fossil fuels directly contradicts the principles of sustainable development. While their support for SANParks spans over 60 years, the ARB emphasised that their broader sustainability claim was deceptive. This ruling sets a critical precedent, affirming that companies can't hide harmful environmental practices behind misleading ads. 🌍 "This is a win for sustainability integrity and consumer protection," said Lazola Kati, Campaign Manager for Fossil Ad Ban. Clean Creatives South Africa also applauded the decision, stressing that it sends a strong message to fossil fuel companies and the advertising agencies supporting them. 🛑 What’s Next? Fossil Ad Ban urges PR and advertising companies to stop aiding greenwashing efforts by fossil fuel companies. The UN's recent call to action highlights the urgency for transparent, truthful information on energy options. 📢 Stay Vigilant! Report any suspected greenwashing to the ARB and join the fight for stricter regulations on fossil fuel advertising. Let's ensure the transition to a greener future isn't derailed by deceptive corporate practices! #ClimateLitigation #Climate #ClimateAction #SouthAfrica #Greenwashing #Greenwashing #FossilAdBan #ClimateActionNow
