🧬📚 "Epigenetic alterations in creatine transporter deficiency: a new marker for dodecyl creatine ester therapeutic efficacy monitoring" – our latest research published in Frontiers in Neuroscience offers exciting insights into the epigenetic mechanisms underlying creatine transporter deficiency (CTD). 🔍🧠 We discovered that deficient creatine uptake in CTD leads to hypo-methylation of nucleic acids in both Slc6a8 knockout mouse models and brain organoids derived from CTD patients' cells. 🐁🧫 Remarkably, treatment with dodecyl creatine ester (DCE), a promising prodrug, showed potential in restoring normal levels of DNA methylation in vivo. 💊🔬 This groundbreaking finding suggests that DNA methylation could serve as a marker to monitor the efficacy of DCE treatment in CTD patients, paving the way for personalized medicine approaches. 🎯👨⚕️ 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dRRjtJ2y #Epigenetics #Neuroscience #CreatineDeficiency

The sortilin-related receptor, SORL1, might play a pivotal role in fueling tau aggregation in glial cells. GLP-1-directed NMDA receptor antagonism for obesity treatment A new bimodal molecule combining NMDA antagonism (MK-801) with GLP-1 agonism promotes weight loss, glycemic control, and improved lipid profiles in obese mice. GLP-1 directed delivery minimizes MK-801 side effects while affecting hypothalamic/brainstem neuroplasticity. The new drug had better outcomes than GLP-1 alone. This study highlights a novel strategy for obesity treatment. Exciting progress in Alzheimer's research! Our new study published in Alzheimer's & Dementia (https://lnkd.in/eNGmMJKp) demonstrates that a novel small molecule ligand improves memory and brain function in aged Alzheimer's mice. This approach, targeting TrkB/C receptors, strengthens neuronal communication, promotes activity-dependent protein expression and activation and regulates activity-dependent transcriptomic immune response, offering promise for future treatments. Currently, 3 antibody-based drugs are available to slow the progression of AD. The mechanism of action is quite similar to remove or block the process of toxic Amyloid beta aggregation, with slightly varied stages of action during protein aggregation. Some of the common side effects might be amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), including mortalities dur to edema (ARIA-E) or hemorrhage (ARIA-H), and these risks are even greater with people carrying ApoE4 allele.
