Looking for ways to make a difference this #EarthDay? Here are some ways you can get involved and keep our planet clean through civic engagement: 1) Organize a community cleanup event in your neighborhood. 2) Advocate for local policies that promote sustainability and environmental protection. 3) Join a conservation organization or volunteer at a local park. 4) Educate others about the importance of environmental stewardship and encourage them to take action too.

Environmental sustainability and democracy are deeply interconnected, influencing and reinforcing each other in so many ways. You can advocate for environmental sustainability by doing things like: Exercising your right to vote and choose leaders who prioritize environmental protection. Attending public hearings and meetings on environmental issues. Share your thoughts and concerns with policymakers and decision-makers. Using social media platforms to spread awareness about environmental issues, sharing information about sustainable practices, and engage in discussions with others. Joining local groups advocating for environmental issues and participating in community-based initiatives focused on sustainability, like LWV-Wake. Boycotting companies with poor environmental practices. Support businesses committed to sustainability and ethical practices. The LWV-Wake Environment Committee focuses on environmental issues impacting Wake County. Committee members explore issues related to water quality, sustainability, transit, and open space.
