𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁! 🚀 The Bern Racing Team, made up of dedicated students from the Berner Fachhochschule BFH a University of Applied Sciences in Bern, has developed the "Turbofan", which is fitted to the wheels of their electric racing cars. It works like a fan to prevent the electric motor and brakes from overheating. The manufacturing process within the SWISSFACTORY.GROUP takes place in several stages: First, ProtoShape 3D-Printing AG prints the turbofan on the baseplate, with each component taking about 10 hours. This is followed by CNC machining by Bunorm Maschinenbau AG, which performs precise drilling and milling to meet the required manufacturing tolerances. Finally, the component is separated from the base plate by ProtoShape using a band saw, the supports are removed, and the surfaces are ground. Finally, the finished component is packaged and delivered today as scheduled. A few words from Martin Huber, Co-CEO from SwissFactory Engineering AG: "In consultation with the Bern Racing Team, we optimised the design of the parts for production. With the adapted design and a simple pilot test, we were convinced that the challenging parts could be produced using the SLM (selective laser melting) process. The printed parts are a real eye-catcher and will help make the Bern Racing Team's racing car a little bit faster, but also safer on the road. I want to thank everyone involved for the excellent cooperation between the companies within SWISSFACTORY.GROUP." #Electric #InnovativeEngineering #3DPrinting #RacingInnovation #swissfactorygroup
