The project at Grizzly Tunnel focused on clearing accumulated debris from the rock trap. Activities included setting up equipment, removing the surge shaft grating, accessing the tunnel through the penstock hatch, installing safety measures, lighting, and a bypass system. Spoils were transported using a crane, skip box, and dump truck to Staging Area 1 at Lower Bucks. The process ensured thorough debris removal while prioritizing safety and environmental considerations. #syblonreid #contractorservices #engineeringcontractors #generalengineering #constructionindustry #constructioncrew #folsomca

Whether you call Dig Safe, 811, or another utility locating service, it is essential to locate underground utilities and develop a plan to avoid a utility strike during excavation operations. While locator services are good, we can also utilize ground penetrating radar, hand digging, vacuum excavators and hydro excavation to supplement and even develop utility as-built drawings. As Britt Mckinney of Structure Tone Southwest shares here, it is important we follow the steps in our dig permit to mitigate potential utility strikes. #NationalSafetyMonth #safetyfirst

Shout out to all the hardworking professionals out there VE-ing underdrains out of grade crossings! CJGeo recently tackled a challenge in Tennessee where a modular grade crossing deflected due to saturation of the underlying base material. This caused the panels to act like diaphragm pumps, pumping out a bunch of base material and causing the crossing to settle up to three inches. The nearby truck stop and restaurant began fielding customer complaints, and the railroad put a slow order on the crossing. Working with a local MOW contractor, CJGeo was able to lift all 12 crossing panels back to their original grade before the Bojangles lunch rush. The team used CJGrout 48NHL, known for its 4x FOS for heavy haul rail crossings. This grout can be injected directly into water without impacting its physical properties, cures within a few minutes, and has just enough elasticity to not break apart like cementitious grouts do in high dynamic loading environments. #maintenanceofway #railwayinfrastructure #geotechnicalengineering #civilengineering #railroads

Before any lift, it's crucial to evaluate the soil's stability, bearing capacity, and any underlying structures. These assessments ensure the crane has a solid foundation, preventing potential tipping hazards and optimizing safe load capacities. Just as a building needs a robust foundation, a crane requires secure ground. By prioritizing these assessments, we're committing to the safety and success of every project. 🏗️ #GroundAssessment #CraneSafety

We don’t like seeing and video graphing such instances of utility strikes, however it helps increase industry awareness, also highlighting how RodRadar’s technology and products can effectively contribute in preventing such incidents in future excavation projects. Prioritizing excavation safety is crucial, not only for contractors but also for everyone involved, whether directly or indirectly. Damaging utilities and causing environmental hazards have a widespread industry impact. RodRadar is the creator of the LDR Excavate™ digging bucket, which incorporates the patented Live Dig Radar® sensing technology. Our solution is meticulously designed to provide excavator operators with real-time, on-site alerts regarding underground utilities during excavation. By utilizing it on construction sites, you can significantly reduce the occurrence of utility strikes, expedite excavation processes, cut down project timelines and costs, and, most importantly, enhance overall safety. Let us all learn from every strike! We would appreciate receiving additional videos and photographs of utility strikes you may have seen in the past, to help increase the awareness of damage impact. Please share with us in comments below, or send us an email to: strike@rodradar.com . Dig safely, use RodRadar‘s LDR Excavate digging backet in your next projects. #ConstructionTech ; #ConstructionAutomation ; #ldrexcavate, #safety, #utilitystrikes
