Yesterday was a tough day for English football fans as our team fought valiantly in the Euros final but, unfortunately didn’t manage to bring the silverware home. Despite the outcome, their journey was a testament to resilience and teamwork, after a slow start they pulled together, never gave up hope, and showcased incredible determination. Their performance was about more than just the game, it was about the heart and spirit of a united group striving for a shared goal. Reflecting on this, I am reminded of the fantastic team I work with at Cross Productions, like our national team we always come together, support each other, and push through challenges, even when things don’t go as planned. Whether we're facing tight deadlines, unexpected hurdles, or complex projects, it's the collective effort and unwavering support within our team that propels us forward. I have always loved soccer, the passion it evokes in people from all walks of life, and the life concepts one can learn from its end to end cycle partakers (i.e fans, players, agents, parents of players, coaches etc). I am no Arsenal fan, but noting the hope Arteta has ignited in the Arsenal fan base in the recent years, i took keen interest in this book and the same was shared with me by a leadership mentor Pepe Minambo. I completed this book over a week back and this for me has been a very worthwhile read - the lessons among others included; i) agreeing clear non negotiable behaviors with your team, no one is above this law ii) remembering to remain human even when the going is tough&rough iii) maintaining a strong culture of accountability iv) ensuring all are clear on vision and strategy. v) staying the course and not being deterred by people and obstacles. Grateful for the learnings.
