Business Analyst who is passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, people and strategic business solutions
🌍 Reflecting on an inspiring Africa Day event hosted by The Mentorship Boardroom and Wits School of Governance last night, themed "Fit-for-Africa: what will it take to turn around the fortunes of Africa?" 🌟 Last night's discussions resonated deeply with me. We delved into the essence of African identity, recognizing our worth and pivotal role in driving the change we aspire to see. It's time to reshape our narratives, to understand that we hold the power to craft solutions tailored to our needs, without waiting for external validation. However, what truly kept me awake after this enlightening discourse was the realization that our journey to self-fulfillment as Africans hinges on more than just global competitiveness. It's about inclusivity, ensuring that the most marginalized among us are not left behind. They are the litmus test of our progress, reflecting how far we've truly come. We cannot afford to turn a blind eye to the plight of the most vulnerable in our society – the naked, the unfed, the uneducated, the unempowered, and the unseen. Until we break the chains of poverty and exclusion that bind them, our journey remains incomplete. Let's commit ourselves to a future where every African, regardless of circumstance, can thrive. Let's create solutions that uplift and empower all members of our society. Together, we can build a continent where everyone has the opportunity to shine. 🌟 #AfricaDay #Inclusivity #Empowerment #ChangeAgents #Wits #AfricanExcellence #FitforAfrica

CALL FOR PAPERS | Tracking Africa’s Development Progress: Towards Agenda 2063 - HSRC Agenda 2063 is a 50-year vision statement for the transformative development of Africa. It aspires to foster inclusive growth, sustainable development, good governance, social inclusion, peace and security, and global participation, among other compelling but ambitious goals. So far, early into the second decade of this multifaceted transformation plan, emerging research underscores uneven findings and outcomes of Africa’s developmental progress. This Africa Insight special issue invites contributions showing how countries and regions across the continent have performed against the vision promoted in Agenda 2063. Africa Insight is particularly interested in publishing manuscripts that compare experiences across at least two countries in different regions of the continent. Priority will be given to studies that place gender and living standards at the forefront. All studies must adopt a comparative approach. Submissions can be made online via the following: https://lnkd.in/gUTXmEPv For any further information or clarity regarding submissions, please do not hesitate to contact the editors at Agenda2063@hsrc.ac.za.

"Curbing state capture by a few groups that abuse their proximity to those with political power calls for improving institutions by fostering efficiency and integrity. The actions proposed by the West Africa Citizen Think Tank (WATHI), which I lead, include strengthening institutions that control the use of public resources and combating corruption while institutionalizing citizen participation in public policy debate as an essential component of democratic governance. We also recommend a deliberate institutional approach aimed at reducing spatial inequalities within countries by monitoring progress in the delivery of public services. Helping stabilize the countries of the Sahel is essential for sustainable economic development across a vast swath of the African continent... Throughout West Africa, sustainable economic and social progress—not to be confused with short-term economic growth—depends on refocusing efforts toward building institutions and investing in people". The Africa We Want: A Closer Look The vision for a prosperous Africa revolves around inclusive and sustainable economic growth. It aims to reduce poverty, create jobs, and ensure access to essential services like healthcare and education for all citizens. Sustainable development is key, focusing on the responsible use of natural resources and investment in renewable energy. Industrialization and innovation are also crucial, with efforts to build industries that process raw materials into finished goods and encourage technological advancements. Achieving this vision requires collective effort, commitment, and effective coordination among all African countries and their partners, ensuring that Africa fulfills the aspirations of its people and takes its rightful place on the global stage. The seven focus areas of Agenda 2063, "The Africa We Want," are: 1. A Prosperous Africa, based on inclusive growth and sustainable development 2. An Integrated Continent, politically united and based on the ideals of Pan-Africanism and the vision of Africa’s Renaissance 3. An Africa of Good Governance, Democracy, Respect for Human Rights, Justice, and the Rule of Law 4. A Peaceful and Secure Africa 5. An Africa with a Strong Cultural Identity, Common Heritage, Values, and Ethics 6. An Africa Whose Development is People-Driven, Relying on the Potential of African People, especially its Women and Youth 7. Africa as a Strong, United, Resilient, and Influential Global Player and Partner #SDGs #aiidevafrica
