Analytical thinking - OSINT/SOCMINT/SNA - Logics. (The articles I write, I write myself, too much fun to let a program make them)
Manpads Known as “shoulder launched anti Air Missiles” like the Mistral, Strela, Igla, FIM-92 Stinger, RBS 70, … I see more and more articles and stories about manpads beeing used for defence against drones, but most of them (except UK Starstreak -> laser beam riding) are IR-guided, Track the heat signature, the exhaust of Jet turbines and rocket motors. But most drones use electric motors driving propellers. Is the heat those small engines produce enough for the missiles to lock on to? Especially the older types? Or maybe even the heat of the battery + the heat of the small engines? Except for the starstreak (talking of shooting with a bazooka at a mosquito) I can’t imagine a IR-seeking missile locking on to a drone? #Mistral #starburst #starstreak #Strela #Igla #FIM92 #Stinger #manpad #manpads #AAM #forceshield #drone #drones #dronedefence #starstreak #forceshield

The MIT article and the visual display may finally make us all aware of how Supply Chains (Value Chains?) are typically set up. The primary driver has been "Faster, Better, Cheaper" or, in todays world, "I Want It NOW, PERFECT, FREE". With (i) current advanced PLM/MBSE* systems able to show "cradle to grave' part movement, ID/ownership and locations; (ii) tracking methods, e.g. RFI; tags. QR coding; (iii) advanced camera sensors during manufacture, assembly and transport, (iv) use of drones and robotics monitoring/surveilling warehouses, assembly sites and even being used to move parts, we are on the cusp of real visibility. Maybe the new mantra should be "NOW, PERFECT, FREE, TRACEABLE"? (*Product Lifecycle Management/Model Based Systems Engineering) Thoughts? #supplychainvisibility #supplychaintraceability #supplyvaluechain

The authors of this MIT study audited the key components of drones. Almost all of them are made in China. Given that drones are now an essential warfighting capability, we can not sustain a war of resistance to CCP agression without an urgent industrial policy to friend-shore key industrial and electronic components. This is a bi-partisan, national security issue that goes well beyond semiconductors. "Disassemble one of the FPV drones found across the battlefields of Ukraine and you will find about seven critical subsystems: power, propulsion, flight control, navigation and sensors (which gather location data and other information to support flight), compute (the processing and memory capacity needed to analyze the vast array of information and then support operations), communications (to connect the drone to the ground), and—supporting it all—the airframe. Most of these components were invented in the US, Japan and Europe. ALMOST ALL ARE NOW MADE IN CHINA." Massachusetts Institute of Technology Florent Groberg https://lnkd.in/e9ia5fqm

The extreme expectations of drones and UAVs extend to their electronic systems and sub-assemblies, which must withstand harsh conditions throughout a long service life. Critical missions such as defense and security application needs connections that support electronic structures must be rugged, robust, small and lightweight to allow UAVs to achieve their intended flight range and endurance. EMM connector delivers all of those demands with its 1.27 mm pitch and MIL-DTL-83513 standard. It also integrates key features such as reversed contacts, integrated 90° back protection and interchangeable hardware. EMM connectors are suited to both board-to-board and board-to-wire configurations and provides extreme modularity with any pin selection available from 04 to 60 signal contacts. Cable versions can be cabled at Nicomatic, or you can crimp them by yourself: it is up to you!
