Content warning - this video contains mention of mental health and suicidal thoughts.
I have been lucky enough to spend a very enjoyable weekend at The Big Retreat Festival in Wales, volunteering with Blink Mental Health - they are a fabulous charity who offer a chill out area and free single session therapy at festivals.
I did not expect to be involved in a panel discussion around #mentalhealth and sharing some of my story and how and why I got involved with BLINK.
The panel was brilliantly hosted by Harrison Ward, and other participants were the founder of BLINK, Mike McAdam and Jane, one of the volunteer therapists.
It is so important to open up the conversation around mental health, it is one of the 3 key foundation blocks for human life. We talk a lot about the other two, it is time to start talking about the third.

For me - mental health is becoming increasingly important in the journey of discovery and is a fascinating aspect which can help you reach a higher potential for both yourself and those around you.
It is so easy to think that you have a 'normal' life, once you start to take a look it can uncover stories and beliefs which are driving your current behaviour patterns, which may not be the way you would like to be living at all.
If you would like to support BLINK's work - you can do so here - https://lnkd.in/eBZEVnd4

Insights from my first couple roles as a case manager and housing counselor for a NYC non-profit
I was fresh out of undergrad reading Freud, Rogers, & principles of ABA
Only to find that the mental health industry is far less...
Well let's just say
There's far fewer armchairs and Rorschach tests 🎨

I would not have the lens on mental health that I have today without those years in community mental health
Everyday it was 'how I can get actual sh*t done for my case load'

Mental health is about filling in the cracks
Making sure the foundation is set
And that you have the basic needs met
And that you have support in place to remind, coach, and encourage you to keep grinding
BASICALLY

I'm overwhelmed to share that I've already reached my target for Mind! Your generosity means the world to me. If anyone still wishes to donate, here's the link to my JustGiving page: https://lnkd.in/ezCfAMJR
As the countdown to the Fan Dance continues (Sunday), I find myself reflecting deeply on the importance of mental health. I wanted to share my personal experience about mental health. I've faced significant loss due to mental health struggles, losing my dad and close friend, James Tait. My own journey with trauma led me to struggle with expressing emotions, a common issue among people of my generation who were taught to see vulnerability as weakness.
Years of suppressing emotions can wreak havoc on our mental well-being and central nervous system, affecting our ability to think clearly and rationally. Through support, I've learned to process these emotions, gaining clarity that has had a profound impact on my work, relationships, and how I interact with my children. This transformation has been liberating, and I believe it's crucial to spread awareness about the importance of mental health.
I'm not here to preach, but if my experience can inspire even one or two of you to seek help, then sharing my story is worth it. Don't bottle up your feelings. Talk to someone—a friend, a good listener, or even a stranger.
Embracing vulnerability isn't a weakness; it's a superpower. Let's prioritize mental health together and support each other on this journey.

Guys, spare a minute to watch this video…
It's #LonelinessAwarenessWeek AND #mensmentalhealthweek. Today, we invite you to join us reducing loneliness and raising awareness of men's mental health.
🧠1 in 3 men in the UK will face isolation and loneliness in their life.
👱♂️Men’s mental health is a big deal. We believe it deserves a big moment. A big expression of solidarity, of community spirit, of togetherness… All through the transformative power of movement.
🕺#TheBigMovement is a monumental mass movement event that reminds men they are not on their own. Through this powerful collective force, we aim to raise awareness about men’s mental health.
📅In Spring 2026, we will be interrupting the city of Southampton with hundreds of men dancing in solidarity and we want the world to know about it! And we want YOU to be there busting a move!
Shape Cutters, Kitchen Ravers, Dad Dancers, UNITE! 👏
🔗You can join the waiting list for The Big Movement, at https://lnkd.in/eAAvr96y (LINK IN BIO) and keep an eye on your inbox for invites and project updates!

To destigmatize mental health issues, we need to break down the walls and have open, relatable conversations around it.
And one of the most effective ways to do that is sharing the stories of people who have made that journey.
When an Australian non-profit organization, headspace, decided to cover the inspiring story of Lucy,
One of their employees who overcame the perils of severe psychosis using their services.
It wasn’t about a medium that was visually pleasing to the eyes or turned the spotlight on them.
They needed something that could talk about a sensitive yet serious mental health condition and humanize it for their viewers.
Headspace found that medium with animated videos.
Together with Jumbla Animation Studios, they crafted this short yet powerful video that brought Lucy’s story to life.
It depicts her journey from tragedy to triumph,
Spreading awareness on mental health issues and their remedies along the way.
Making her victory feel like a personal win for anyone who watches this video and resonates with it.
Did you find this video from Headspace inspiring? Do let us know in the comments.
Let's make a MOVE!
It's Mental health awareness week and the theme is movement!
There are so many ways to move your mind and body to look after your health. 🧠
This week, we're asking you to join OUR movement.
How?
✅ Share our content to spread the word to your networks about our training and free Hub of Hope 💜
✅ See what mental health training is available in your organization and explore whether Hub of Hope could be referred to or if our Ambassador of Hope training might be useful for your team
✅ Consider fundraising for us as we don't receive core funding from the government and reply on organisations and supporters to help us keep up and running
✅ Keep talking about mental health and how it's equally as important as physical health 🗣️
We'll be sharing more all week about how you can help make the nation more mentally healthy.
You in? 💪
