⚕ Pharmacists and prescribers need to be made aware of the impact that overprescribing of human medication is having on the environment because they are some of the people who can do something to prevent these chemicals from getting into the marine environment in the first place. 💊 In pharmacy school we get taught lots about drug pharmacokinetics, but there is no onward discussion about where the metabolites or often unmetabolised drug ends up. #itsnotmyproblem is NOT the answer. 🚫 It shouldn't be. Everyone needs to be involved in this discussion and this project is a prime example of one which has brought to light the urgent need to have that discussion now. 🙏 I was super thrilled to be invited by Ida Beathe Øverjordet to share my experience from 10 years of #ClinicalPharmacist to this project. #Pharmarine raised the need for more research into the effects of pharmaceuticals on marine life. Lets get our acts together and do something about that. #ouroneocean
