Last week, we tested your knowledge on the guidelines-based standard of care for treating #CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy), a chronic, progressive condition that may require long-term management. 70% of you picked the correct answer – there are several guidelines-based treatment options for CIDP: corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, and plasmapheresis. The path to diagnosis and treatment can be a long process for people living with CIDP. We’re committed to doing our part for patients and moving science forward. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eM_9wmRe

Heart Artery Spasms – Weed is a Problem. Marijuana-induced Coronary Vasospasm with Persistent Inter-coronary Connection: A Case Report and Review of Literature #HeartHealth #cannabis Coronary vasospasm is a well-known entity causing acute chest syndrome and can lead to myocardial infarction, ventricular arrhythmias, and even sudden cardiac death. While there are extensive case series showing the association of coronary vasospasm with cocaine, studies reporting marijuana-induced coronary vasospasm are limited in number… It is important for the clinicians to recognize the association of marijuana with coronary vasospasm. At the same time, these patients should be treated as acute coronary syndromes until proven otherwise by ischemia evaluation. For more: https://lnkd.in/eDZVCxrF

Results from this study showed that a high-risk PLASMIC score successfully predicted patients with severe ADAMTS13 deficiency, allowing the clinician to quickly define the best therapeutic approach, especially useful for clinicians not used to the diagnosis and treatment of TMA. The easy way for tentative diagnosis of some clinical cases using #plasma colour appearance. The gross appearance of the plasma in the microhematocrit or centrifuge tube can provide useful information, quickly and reliably. #Yellow discoloration :- of the plasma is evidence of hyperbilirubinemia (icterus) in dogs and cats. This is termed icterus and is graded mild, moderate or marked (subjectively). #Red color :- in the plasma indicates the presence of free hemoglobin. This is most often due to artifactual disruption of RBC during sample collection and/or handling (in vitro hemolysis), but can also been seen in cases of intravascular hemolytic disease. #Whitish opacity:- of the plasma indicates hyperlipidemia and is associated with increased concentrations of triglycerides (triglycerides dominate) usually due to high chylomicrons or very low density lipoproteins
