Late last year, I was thinking, first off, I am not one to make New Year resolutions frankly because I ALWAYS find an excuse to not accomplish them. I know a lot of people say 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲, I was one of them, and that has helped me a lot through the years. However, walking into 2024 I needed something much bigger to push me to the next level. It wasn't New Year New Me, because I'm still me, but I wanted to grow and learn. So I used those words: 𝙂𝙍𝙊𝙒𝙏𝙃 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂, to push me to the next level. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁?: 🎓 Enrolled in Southern New Hampshire University, and on track to graduate in March 2025 with my B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Industrial Organizational Psychology. 🏋♀️ Hired a personal trainer/nutritionist. (Best decision ever!) 📚 Planning to apply for my Master's in Psychology afterward. - Became a SHRM member. - Attended my first SHRM Chapter Event: Emerging HR Leaders Bootcamp through OakMac SHRM - Became an OakMac SHRM Member - Attending my first networking event through OakMac SHRM - Attending HR Day in Lansing, here's the link if you're interested: https://lnkd.in/dPFbdkcK - Attending HR Summit through OakMac SHRM in Detroit, here's the link if you're interested: https://lnkd.in/dSxFUrQC - Became a Kalamazoo HR Management Association Member - Attending Day of Development in Kalamazoo, here's the link if you're interested: https://lnkd.in/d9nxRhdg When I write all of this down, it feels like a lot but I can honestly say, I'm having so much fun learning and growing. I've never felt this complete and fulfilled in my career/education.

Up-to-date information on pending federal and state legislation that may impact your company's operations. HR generalists and specialists who provide information that might otherwise be difficult and/or expensive to obtain. Contemporary, successful practices to make your organization more efficient, increase employee engagement, and help line managers carry out business strategy. The opportunity to obtain recertification credits for attending chapter programming that qualifies for SHRM or HRCI credits. Leadership skills development opportunities. You can take on a volunteer leadership role in a local chapter, for example. Speak to any LCHRA board member about leadership opportunities.

This month's ICMA - International City/County Management Association Public Management magazine includes Patrick Ibarra on the cover! Patrick helped City of Waco, TX in 2023 on a Human Resources Strategic Plan. He did a great job along with Missie Pustejovsky, SPHR, CBP to chart a course to make Waco the preferred employer in Central Texas. His article in the PM magazine is a good one and he uses one of my favorite quotes; "Change isn't the dangerous thing, stability is." Last week, I had the privilege to attend the annual HR day from Vlerick Business School together with my colleague Stéphanie Callebaut. What an edition it was! I followed some very interesting keynotes and inspiring sessions about retention, Squiggly careers and how AI Will change HR. And I have to say: the catering was top notch as well 😋🍦 Some main takeaways: - An inspiring career isn’t equal to climbing the corporate ladder for a lot of people - When incorpating new technologies in a work place, we need to look for “influencers” to get everyone on the same track - Technology, leadership and learning opportunities/career development are the most important topics in retaining people Looking forward to put the attained knowledge to use at delaware BeLux

Excited to kick off 2024 with the next class in my Masters of HR and Organizational Development program at the University of Louisville! This class focuses on program and organizational evaluation. My entry for this week's thought journal: "Formative evaluations focus on determining which aspects of the design work well or not, and why. Summative evaluations describe how well a design performs." "When the cook tastes the soup, that's formative; when the guests taste the soup, that's summative" (I love a good metaphor)
