What might be getting in the way of executing your high-stakes projects successfully? Struggling to align your leaders, project team, or key stakeholders towards shared a vision and goals? Read Precious Ile, MA, PMP®'s post on "the norm of politeness that might be blocking or hurting your team's progress." Priya Parker's TED talk discusses this norm and 3 steps to address it with lasting results and impact. #ImpactPlusConsulting #PuttingPeopleAtTheCentre #StrategicPlanning #StakeholderEngagement #LeadershipDevelopment

Is the "norm of politeness blocking your team's progress"? On Tuesdays, I teach a course on conflict resolution. "Being polite" surfaced as one of the group's progress blockers in navigating high-stakes conversations. It's that time of the year again. Your leadership or project team might be planning or reflecting on progress towards your strategic goals. You might also be assessing what got in the way of successfully executing your high-stakes projects or stakeholder engagements. How comfortable is your team with having challenging conversations? The problem is likely that you may have attempted to have these high-stakes conversations with a core ingredient missing. What's missing is "a meaning gap" as Priya Parker says in her TED talk. If you haven't watched Priya's talk, I highly recommend watching it if you manage projects, programs, or people. Talk title: 3 steps to turn everyday get-togethers into transformative gatherings. In her talk, she highlights "the norm of politeness" and "heat" as a core ingredient for meaning in everyday get-togethers. Her 3 steps also apply to work-related gatherings. 💡 Step 1: "The first step to creating more meaningful gatherings is to embrace a specific disputable purpose." For what a specific disputable purpose means and the other 2 steps, watch Priya's TED talk: https://lnkd.in/gEpDF-aX You will gain actionable steps to plan more meaningful and impactful strategy offsites, stakeholder consultations, team meetings, or leadership trainings. 💡 Comment in the chat if you've seen her talk or share what stood out to you. _________ Looking for an expert facilitator, consultant, or executive coach to train or guide your team in navigating high-stakes conversations in a collaborative manner? LinkedIn Top Voice (Leadership, Executive Coaching, Emotional Intelligence)★President and CEO ★ Corporate Board Director ★ Executive Coach ★ Public Speaker ★ Leadership Development ★ Servant Leader ★ Culture Whisperer
Effective leadership hinges on clear communication. The quote "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place" by George Bernard Shaw underscores a critical challenge. Leaders must not only convey information but ensure it is understood. Misinterpretations and assumptions can derail a team. To address this, leaders should foster an environment of open dialogue, encourage questions, and actively listen. By acknowledging the potential for communication gaps, leaders can bridge understanding, align goals, and cultivate a culture where everyone feels heard and valued, fostering unity and success within the team. #fyp #fypage #leadershipmatters #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipskills #inspiration #warriors #communicationskills #leadershipinsights #executivecoaching #bealeader
