Did you know that 15% of children in Tanzania are out of school? https://lnkd.in/e9dHiK3t In Luchelele Ward, Mwanza Region, kids face long distances to school, and low-income families struggle with childcare costs. At TECEC, we're committed to addressing these challenges by supporting early learning and care services to vulnerable communities. Exciting news! We plan to support existing community based daycares and reach more children aged 3-5 years, who are unable to travel 2-5 km to public preschool classes. Join us in breaking barriers and bridging the education gap! In a week where we have seen one in three children not performing at a baseline national standard in NAPLAN results, with much poorer outcomes for disadvantaged students surely the link between childcare deserts and the trajectories for children missing out on early learning is clear. #thrivebyfive
A new report from the Mitchell Institute at Victoria University has found that about 700,000 Australians live in areas with virtually no access to early learning and childcare at all. It also shows that 24% of Australia’s population lives in areas classified as ‘childcare deserts’ – where there are more than three children per childcare place. At Royal Far West, we advocate for greater access to early intervention services for country children. Improving access to early childhood education and care for every child and family is a crucial part of making this happen. Country kids deserve the same opportunities as city kids to start school strong. To read the full report head to: https://lnkd.in/ggRF_-uZ

Living in a challenged environment/economy is really unbelievable especially in the 21st century. Imbalance in childcare is on the rapid increase in the underdeveloped countries. Children failing to attend school, because of missing basic scholastic materials, school fees, shoes, school uniforms. This is absurd but true. With any opportunity availed to you, make your neighbors' child attend school. Endevour to multiply yourself in others by supporting a child in which ever way possible. https://lnkd.in/dJaSX-wR

Place strategy and tourism. PhD. GAICD. Chair Northern Tasmania Development Corporation, Deputy Chair East Coast Tasmania Tourism.
Childcare impacts everyone - and underpins good development and good places. - 3.7 million people in Australia live in a childcare desert, where there are 3 or more children for every available place within a 20 minute drive. - A child who attends preschool is twice as likely to go on to tertiary education. - In Australia, once you have a baby, workforce participation drops dramatically and really doesn’t recover for 10 years, losing 55% of earnings over that time. - For every $ invested in education, we get $2 back. For children with any kind of disadvantage, we get $7 back. A bit depressing but important to know if we’re going to consider solutions. Stats from Georgie Dent of The Parenthood at the Regional Australia Institute #RegionsRising National Summit.

I had the privilege of visiting some Community Based Childcare Centres (CBCCs) in Rumphi. That’s Lunyina CBCC, about 10 kilometers away from Bolero, Rumphi district. One of the most interesting aspects that I noted besides my ECD data collection quality control checks was the level of investment that has been made specifically by ActionAid In upgrading of CBCCs. Atleast our children have the minimum level of structures for learning planted across the district. Second is the fact that these centres are always less than 300 metres away from primary school. I think it drives the acceleration of Early Childhood Education agenda. One of the priorities in Malawi Implentation plan. I now hve first hand evidence to push for financing and acceleration of Early Childhood Education policies that currently under review. We will push for more progress in Early Childhood Development 💪🏽.

Half of local authorities are 'childcare deserts' where there are three or more children for every childcare place. And it's the most deprived local authorities that have have the least opportunities for children to access early education. The system is designed so it excludes families on the lowest incomes. We need a new approach to ensure everyone children across the country get access to the early education they need. Find out more in our new blog. https://lnkd.in/ehQ6kfQv

The network was founded by Centre for Women’s and Child Development, Mobile Creches and Self Employed Women’s Association in 1989.
https://lnkd.in/gF3FtPNm National FORCES is aligned with an overlapping network , Alliance for Right to ECD. Here is the article by Dr Aparajita Sharma, the member of Alliance for Right to ECD. The article sheds light on the universalization of childcare as a fundamental right , a mandate rather than a freebie. Childcare development leads to holistic development of the personality , hence its need and amplification must be vital and should be at priority .
