🍄🌱 Had an amazing time during my internship! 🌱🍄 Let me share to you about one of the coolest things I learned in my first week of internship! Imagine walking into a room filled with rows of mushroom blocks, or as they call them here, "bongkah"🤯 That was exactly what I got to experience! So, picture this: my supervisor and the staffs shared with us on how they grow mushrooms especially oyster mushrooms. Oyster mushrooms are actually the ones we always buy and cook various dishes with it. Firstly, we have to make these substrate blocks for the mushrooms to grow in. Materials like sawdust, wheat bran and water must be inserted in the bags. And also not to forget, we have to sterilize to ensure no contamination! Once they are all ready, the mushroom seeds are being added. Then, we will have to wait till it harvest. But here is the really cool part, I even got to take some mushrooms home! 🏡🍄 It was such a great experience, and I can't wait to see where my journey takes me next! 🌟 #InternshipAdventures #MushroomMagic #LearningIsFun

Every internship has its challenges. One of my first tasks at Elevation Pictures was to find a way to bring 50 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon and 70 bottles of Miller High Life to the office for a party. All I had? The company card and my Jansport backpack. To minimize company costs, I walked over to the LCBO. Evelyn, a senior associate there, kindly gave me permission to use an LCBO trolley to transport the drinks to the office. The problem? The 70 bottles of Miller High Life took up the entire trolley. I’d have to make a second trip for the PBRs. This was a setback I hadn’t planned for, but every internship has its challenges. All in all, it took me 30 minutes to get all 120 beers into the office and into the fridge. Here’s what I learned: 🔹 TALK TO PEOPLE. Without Evelyn’s help, it would’ve taken me at least 10 more minutes to transport all those beers to the office. 🔹 BE READY TO IMPROVISE. Flexibility can turn a tough beer run into a manageable one. 🔹 EMBRACE THE CHALLENGE. Every beer run is an opportunity to learn and grow. Internships are full of unexpected tasks, but they teach you resourcefulness and resilience.

Make no mistake - how you treat your employees is a brand play. Let me explain. I was already aware of Once Upon a Farm, but this honest praise for a dedicated intern planted a seed in my mind (as an outsider completely unaffiliated with the company) that this is a brand with genuine integrity behind it. They don't seem to be doing it for likes, or sales, or web traffic. There are not likely KPIs set against it, no data reports will be pulled to measure it's effectiveness, but that doesn't mean it's not a smart marketing move. It effects how we see and feel about them. Which effects purchasing intent. Not everything is measured in CTRs and ROAS, folks.

Trent, our summer intern for 2024, recently had a sit-down with our team for a fun Q&A session before he heads back to school.
