🚀 Exciting yet controversial news in the world of sports and sponsorships: Pernod Ricard has announced a four-year partnership with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), covering all their teams, including football and handball. 🍾🥂 While this deal promises significant brand visibility for Pernod Ricard, it's causing a stir in Marseille. Ricard, a brand with deep roots in the city, was founded by Marseillais Paul Ricard in 1932. The connection between Ricard and Marseille is strong, and the brand's decision to partner with PSG has led to a backlash from Olympique de Marseille (OM) fans. This mirrors a potential situation in Quebec, where if a well-known local brand like Molson were to sponsor the Toronto Maple Leafs, it would likely provoke a similar backlash from Canadiens fans… The core issue here is regional loyalty and rivalry. For many in Marseille, Ricard is a symbol of local pride and heritage. The sponsorship with PSG, a major rival, feels like a betrayal to them. This reaction is a reminder of how deeply regional affiliations can influence public perception and brand relationships. Such partnerships must navigate these sensitivities, balancing national exposure with local loyalties. How brands manage these dynamics can impact their success and reputation. #Sponsorship #BrandPartnerships #RegionalRivalry #SportsMarketing

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am super excited that Brisbane is hosting the 2032 Summer Olympics, and that our ‘Sunshine State’ Capital will be showcased to the rest of the world. When announced several years ago, the 2032 Olympics felt like a lifetime away, and the decisions on venues and villages had no urgency, but the clock is now rapidly ticking, and sensible, collaborative, and progressive decisions need to be made to ensure that Australia can deliver this world class event, and that the necessary investment in world class facilities and precincts will inject new life and prosperity into our river city post 2032. Close to the airport, train lines, and our iconic ‘Rivercat’ Ferry routes, this new proposition for an iconic Northshore Olympic Precinct could tick all of the boxes, and if it is anywhere near as good as the amazing Perth Optus Stadium precinct on the Swan River, we should all be getting excited. I’ve no doubt that there will be numerous other proposals and discussions over the next 12 months, but two thing are certain… - An Olympic stadium at QSAC (the old Commonwealth Games precinct) adjacent to the cemetery at Upper Mount Gravatt is not a world class solution. - Our political parties must take a bipartisan approach to the solution during this incredibly transformational time in Brisbane’s history. Let’s work together to make #brisbane2032 memorable for all the right reasons! #brisbane #queensland #olympics #australia #brisbetter #stadium #venue #olympicgames https://lnkd.in/gyPpZQBP

💚 💛 Landmark funding for Sunshine Coast’s Olympic venues 💛 💚 Three Sunshine Coast sporting venues have been given the green light to progress to tender following a funding commitment of almost $300 million by the Queensland and Australian governments. The funding signals the largest ever investment in community sporting infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast. A $148 million Sunshine Coast Stadium expansion, a $142 million new Indoor Sports Centre in Kawana and a $14 million Mountain Bike Centre at Parklands are on track to be delivered in 2027, with construction of the Sunshine Coast Stadium Expansion planned to start later this year. The venues will provide high-quality, accessible competition and training facilities for our local athletes, increase participation in sports and recreation across the region, and will have capacity to host major sporting events. Today’s funding announcement follows years of research and planning and will deliver lasting economic and social benefits before, during and after hosting the Games. Corona? 🍺 Moët? 🍾 or Pilsner Urquell 🍻? 🚨 Official: The International Olympic Committee (#IOC) has announced Anheuser-Busch InBev as a Worldwide Olympic Partner for the next three Olympic Games, starting with Paris 2024 🇫🇷 ➡ 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan 🇮🇹 and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles 🇺🇲 1️⃣ This deal introduces Corona Cero as the #official non-alcoholic beer of the Olympics, a first in Olympic history. 0️⃣% Anheuser-Busch InBev, known for brands like Budweiser, Corona and Stella Artois, joins the ranks of major sponsors but has not disclosed the financial details of the agreement. Additionally, Luxury group #LVMH secured a sponsorship for the Paris Olympics last year, incorporating Moet Hennessy champagne and spirits into the Games' hospitality programs. ❌ In contrast: #Pilsner Urquell 🇨🇿 has withdrawn its sponsorship from the Paris 2024 Olympics in response to the IOC's decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete. The company will instead #direct its support towards Czech athletes. ➡ I've got my drink* for the Olympics. What are you having? *☕

Helping Businesses Make Better Decisions and Grow With Automated Reporting | Tableau & Power BI | Managing Director at Motta Consulting
Get rid of an inner city park to build a stadium? While I'll be waiting for the full report to be available, I am not convinced that building a new stadium for the same money as a Gabba rebuild at the expense of parkland is the solution. While connectivity at the Gabba is not great, it will certainly be improved once Cross River Rail is finished and is certainly not worse than Victoria Park. With the additional proposal of shifting the Brisbane Arena away from Roma Street station, I get the distinct feeling that there is a design to move these venues away from train station and closer to buses and bus ways. What do others think? Were you able to find the full report? Should we rebuild the Gabba or build a new one on Victoria Park? https://lnkd.in/gsHhkMub
