Release of the final #assays from SPC Nickel Corp's resource definition drill program (67 holes for 14,180m) demonstrated the potential amenability to open-pit mining at East Lockerby. Next: a maiden #MineralResource which will add to historic resources at West Graham & Crean Hill 3. “The final assays from SPC Nickel’s highly successful 2023 resource definition program at West Graham represent the culmination of more than 10 months of intensive drilling activity. The results to date have significantly enhanced the resource potential at West Graham. We expect the project will be amenable to open-pit mining methods and will demonstrate strong economics. Having completed our resource definition work for the year, we are working towards the release of our maiden Mineral Resource for West Graham in the coming months.” #nickel #criticalmetals

Sayona Mining Limited (SYA-ASX; OTC:SYAXF) Sayona undertakes operational review of its North American Lithium (NAL) operation. On January 25, 2024 Sayona announced that it is conducting an operational review of its North American Lithium (NAL) operation. The review is focused on opportunities to reduce NAL’s cost base, manage cash flow and preserve the Québec operation’s financial sustainability. Guy Belleau, CEO of the Sayona’s Québec subsidiary, Sayona Inc., has departed his role effective January 24, 2024. Mr Belleau joined Sayona in late 2022 and took up the CEO position in January 2023 (https://lnkd.in/edAgXgm5). Sayona’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Québec, Mr Sylvain Collard, shall assume direct management of Sayona’s Québec operations. In conjunction with this management change, an additional 14 staff members have been made redundant in the Québec operations and regrettably terminated. Recall Sayona was recipient of the "Entrepreneur of the Year" award of the AEMQ (Québec Mineral Exploration Association) that recognized the teamwork over the past years. On January 31, 2024, Sayona reported significant increase in ore mined at the NAL operation combined with higher grades delivered to the plant due to increased blasting efficiencies and improved dilution management. Up to 2 shipments of concentrate sold by NAL during the quarter. A third shipment departed port in early January 2024. Drilling at NAL, Vallée Lithium and Moblan completed, providing the potential for further increases to the existing lithium resource base. During the quarter, Sayona’s drill results indicated Moblan’s expansion potential as high-grade mineralisation was identified outside of the April 2023 JORC resource pit shell (see: https://lnkd.in/e-cnxN_T). The Moblan Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for the development of a lithium mine and concentrator progressed and is expected to be released by Q2/2024. I'll always remember the stories told by staff returning from the early field programs to support development of this project, and the relationships built and skills learned along the way. Highlight being, Matthew Martins story about running out of aircraft fuel (in the country?) whilst coordinating helicopter movements between sites for the drill rigs. WSP have made a commitment to halve the carbon footprint of our designs by 2030. The development and adoption of alternative lower emission materials will be critical to achieving these targets. "To cut emissions, the industry is exploring alternative approaches, such as direct reduced iron technology in which the ore is treated using hydrogen and carbon monoxide, rather than coke. Such processes require high-grade iron ore, which is increasingly hard to find in large quantities. The ore Rio Tinto plans to extract from Simandou has an average iron content of greater than 65 per cent, among the highest in the world." #futureready #emissionsreduction #wearewsp
The Simandou iron ore project in Guinea, valued at $20 billion, combines the efforts of Rio Tinto, the Guinean government, and major Chinese companies including Chinalco and Baowu, along with other international stakeholders. Together, they're developing one of the world's largest mining projects, complete with extensive infrastructure like a 552km railway and a deepwater port. #MiningInnovation #GlobalCollaboration #SustainableMining #SimandouProject

Last week our Chief Geologist, Louis W. Schurmann, presented at the 2024 Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum. Louis was able to share his insight into our most recent findings and the progress of our Yangibana Project. His key points included: ◾ Fully permitted with $154 million invested to date for Stage 1 of Yangibana Project ◾ Average neodymium and Praseodymium (NdPr) to TREO Ratio surpassing most global projects ◾ Timed to produce critical minerals required to power the energy transition ◾ Significant upside as a future niobium producer with potential material by-product credit in addition to rare earths Watch the full presentation: https://lnkd.in/gPwHHtpR The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies), Gascoyne Development Commission, Shire of Upper Gascoyne, Shire of Carnarvon, Regional Development Australia - Mid West & Gascoyne #hastings #TechInnovation #CriticalMinerals #RareEarths #investmentforwa #jobsforwa #worldclass #wamining #ausmining #mining #RareEarths #diggersanddealers

Taiton Resources Limited has applied for two Exploration Licence in New South Wales to acquire the #Kingsgate #Molybdenum Mine. This project will allow Taiton to move towards a production pathway. Taiton started this journey to discover Molybdenum in 2022 and with the inclusion of Molybdenum as a critical mineral now, Kingsgate has been a timely addition to the company's value adding process for shareholders. The #KingsgateMolybdenum project is located 20km east of #GlenInnes (pop. 6,155) in an area known as the #KingsgateMiningDistrict. Glen Innes is approximately 600km north of Sydney situated on a major highway between Sydney and Brisbane. Regular commercial flights service the city of Armidale which is 98km south of Glen Innes. The Kingsgate mining centre mine was the second largest producer of Molybdenum in Australia between the early 1880s and late 1920s. A total of 350t Molybdenum (Mo) and 200t #Bismuth (Bi) was mined. Much of the ore was mined from a cluster of high-grade Mo-Bi bearing quartz pipes Between 2005 and 2009, #AuzexResourcesLimited was active at the Kingsgate Mining region, the company had advanced the project with drilling (Over 15,000m) and completed metallurgical studies, a scoping study [and Feasibility Study. Trial mining with 11,700 bcm of material mined and high-grade Mo and Bi ore were stockpiled. Over the next month or two, the company will be digesting the large amount of datasets and will report back to the market on the path forward. #ASX #Investors #ASXINvestors #CriticalMinerals #EV #Decarbonisation #RenewableEnergy #CleanMining https://lnkd.in/gqNvySfU

The Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) has set an all-time record as BHP’s Adam Lancey addresses attendees with a message for the resources industry. With over 30 years under its belt as Australia’s largest regional mining event, QME welcomed over 5000 visitors to Mackay Showgrounds over three days this week, with over 300 exhibitors and 29 seminar sessions. The QME Seminar Series, sponsored by Komatsu, opened with a keynote by Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King who covered the importance of Queensland’s resources sector and its strong future ahead thanks to growing interest in the state’s critical minerals. Speaking at the Queensland Mining Awards, which took place on Wednesday night, BHP Mitsubishi Alliance asset president Adam Lancey said Queensland will be a key driver in unlocking the success of Australia’s resources sector into the future. “Not only is the Queensland mining industry a passionate, tightknit community, it’s also a powerhouse on the world’s stage of mineral producing regions,” he said. “From met coal to copper, our industry remains essential to the future as the world seeks to solve some of its greatest challenges. “We want to continue our contribution to Queensland and the best way of doing this is to make sure it’s a great place to invest and do business.” Learn more via Australian Mining > https://lnkd.in/gj3arvc2 #Resources #Mining #CriticalMinerals #Investment #QME2024 #QMA2024 #Queensland #Australia
