#CelebratingIndustryExcellence 👏 Here's a look at our AMEC Award Finalists for the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Empowerment sponsored by Agreement Hub: 🔶Global Drone Solutions - For their advanced drone technology and piloting program has trained over 100 Aboriginal Rangers, enabling effective land and environmental management and assisted in preserving cultural heritage. This initiative has significantly boosted employment opportunities and career development within Indigenous communities, aligning with the mining and exploration industry's role as a key employer for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. 🔶Thiess - As part of their 'Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)', Thiess listened and consulted with their Indigenous employees to help attract, recruit, and retain Indigenous talent. This included culturally appropriate iniatives, such as site-based yarning circles, culminating in the launch of the inaugural Connect. Yarn. Grow. (CYG) conference in May 2024. This platform built connections, fostered a sense of belonging, and enabled Thiess leaders to gain insights into the lived experiences of Indigenous employees. As result, areas for improvement were identified and a clear roadmap for creating a culturally safe workplace was created. Get your tickets here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gVzssxG2

Massive boost for critical minerals in #NSW ✅✅ Today's announcement from the Government of New South Wales (NSW Government) is significant. It commits $250 million in royalty deferrals to boost their critical minerals industry, with priority metals identified in the revised strategy including rare earths, silver, scandium, copper & cobalt. AMEC Chief Executive Warren Pearce commended the new strategy, “Today's announcement identifies the absolute priority to assist exploration and mining companies in the early stages of developing critical minerals projects." “It’s difficult to secure investment and receive appropriate approvals for new projects at the best of times. But doing so in emerging sectors, like critical minerals, is an added challenge to overcome." AMEC is also encouraged by the decision to review the approvals and planning process. These processes are often unnecessarily drawn out, costly, and without certainty. With NSW Minister for Natural Resources Courtney Houssos, saying “NSW critical minerals projects typically have long lead times for development, and higher capital investment. The new royalty deferral scheme will assist mine proponents to attract investment and move faster to production." Chief Executive Warren Pearce spoke yesterday, as part of the opening day of the conference and exhibition. Did you know that South Australia is the nation’s largest producer of Copper? 🙌 Producing a massive 337,00 tonnes - 42% of Australia’s copper in FY24. And to keep the copper pipeline of projects growing, the Government of South Australia is revamping their Copper Strategy. Last week's Department for Energy and Mining, South Australia + AMEC Copper Strategy Round Table, organised and led by Giles Dunseath-Hamilton and SA Manager Peta Abbot provided a great opportunity to discuss new ways to keep the Red Metal flowing. Thanks to leaders across SA Government for discussions on: • Geology and Pre-competitive Geoscience • Exploration and Mining Regulation and Approvals • Capital Raising and Investment AMEC members are very appreciative of the opportunity to provide input to the Strategy. We are looking forward to the development of Actions that support companies and their copper projects to grow copper in SA!
