Last spring Taseko and Gibraltar, with support from Ensero Solutions , conducted a biological water treatment to reduce nitrate concentrations in Gibraltar’s tailings storage facility (TSF). This innovative, in-situ approach leveraged naturally occurring bacteria in our TSF. It supported, and expanded, on the natural process that was occurring, by providing a carbon food source that accelerated the rate at which the bacteria broke down the nitrates! The project was a resounding success achieving: ✅Rapid reduction in nitrate levels ✅No waste by-products ✅No legacy infrastructure ✅Indigenous and Government support A first of its kind in British Columbia, this program is a testament to Taseko’s commitment to sustainable and innovative solutions in the mining industry. As we have now forged a path for others to permit and implement sustainable water treatment processes within the province of British Columbia, we look forward to seeing others follow in our footsteps. We would like to extend our thanks to all those involved in this project. Adil Cheema, P.
