Creative web copy in German & English 🌱 🇬🇧 🇩🇪 | Supporting ethical/sustainable businesses & friendly freelancers | Marketing translator (DipTrans MCIL, mainly English > German) | SEO content writer | Transcreator
Do you have a "Lazy Girl job"? Well. If you're also a translator or freelance writer, the Daily Fail puts us in the Top 10 of "Lazy Girl jobs". The Mail reported two days ago that these jobs are "low stress, low effort, with lots of flexibility and freedom." Oh, and I forgot the "comfortable salaries". 🙄 I'm not going to link to their article (they don't deserve any more clicks), but I'll list their Top 10, so we can all have a good laugh: 1. Cloud Engineer 2. E-Learning Assistant 3. Translator 4. Customer Feedback Analyst 5. Data Entry Specialist 6. Accountant 7. Freelance Writer 8. Data Analyst 9. Informatics Nurse 10. Museums Assistant I reckon "Daily Mail journalist" should be number 1. Lazy "journalism" at its best. https://lnkd.in/dU2q-nz7 #xl8 #ContentWriter #LazyGirlJobs

Content Leader | Content Strategy | Content Creation & Editing | Content Marketing | Digital Content | Thought Leadership | Team Leadership | Project Management
I'm frustrated. I keep coming across job openings seeking highly experienced writers at entry-level pay. Why are writers so undervalued? Thanks to long walks with my dog (h/t to Charlie), I now have a theory: 🏫 Everyone learns to write in school. ✏ Everyone writes every day, even if it's just emails and texts. Everyone has the skills (so they think). They just don't have the time. The internal dialogue heading into annual comp planning: "I could write that. It's not hard. Anyone can do it. We don't need to pay a lot for these content roles." Why pay a lot of money for a job they could do themselves? If they only had the time. My theory crystallized with the rush to AI-generated content. AI eliminates the "time" issue. Inner dialogue heading into this year's annual comp meeting: "I could write that. It's not hard. AI can do it. We don't need content roles." (Speaking of comp meetings, the low average pay for writers* is self-perpetuating. Decades of low salaries are baked into the comp data used to determine pay. 😠 ) How do we fix this? I'm starting to see a glimmer of hope. Lately, I've been coming across high-paying jobs with these titles or some variation: Storytelling Leader Director of Brand Narrative These titles reflect what most of us have been doing for years. However, "storytelling" and "narrative" better describe the value writers bring to an organization. Stories and narratives sound complex (because they are) and emotional (because they are). Storytellers have historically been considered essential, even revered, members of society. We need to start fighting for job titles that reflect our value. I mean, everyone loves a good story, right? But not everyone can write one. Even if they had the time. *Average salary of a: 💵 B2B writer = $84k 💵 TV writer = $81k 💵 Writer/editor = $76k 💵 Tech writer = $71k Average salaries roles in California Sources in order: Ziprecruiter, Glassdoor, and Indeed #B2B #writers #pay #AI

✨Adding a writer to our team has reshaped the way we work. Our reports are better, turnaround time faster and our investigators have more time to focus on their investigations. I’m excited that we’re hiring another writer & editor so we can offer more of our investigators this support. If you’re ready to make a difference and grow professionally, check out the link in the comments below. #TeamBarkerHutchinson #Investigations #Writer
How a Report Writer revolutionized our process. Several months ago we advertised a position for a Report Writer. I received several curious inquiries about how a report writer would integrate with our investigators. A link to my response and those queries is in the comments below. We’ve now had a report writer (the amazing Nora Ruddock) assisting our investigators for nearly 4 months and the impact has been crystal clear: 1️⃣ The quality and consistency of our reports has improved 2️⃣ Cost savings for our clients – a professional writer is more efficient, leading to reports being produced in less billable time 3️⃣ Decreased turnaround time – our internal review and scrutiny process is more efficient, meaning clients receive our reports in less time 4️⃣ Improved internal efficiency. Our investigators have increased time to focus on interviews, analysis and evidence collection while their interview summaries are being written by a professional writer A professional writer has made such an impact that we’re now hiring another Report Writer and Editor (Link to the job post in the comments below)! Why work with Barker Hutchinson? ✅ Consistent support, mentorship, and guidance so you may reach your full potential ✅ Fully remote position with flexible working hours ✅ Competitive salary ✅ 4 weeks vacation ✅ RRSP contributions and comprehensive health benefits ✅ Paid opportunities for continuous learning and professional development #hiring #reportwriting #investigations
