Yesterday, selected children from Regent International School attended the The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS) Student Environmental Leadership Conference. 💚 The conference began with a student-led panel discussion which explored various local environmental issues (such as transport, waste and biodiversity); celebrated sustainable achievements in U.A.E. schools; discussed how students overcome obstacles whilst balancing their priorities and identified ways in which we can empower the next generation of changemakers. After that, we had the opportunity to explore the grounds of The Sustainable City and visited the SEE Institute, which is the region’s first net-zero carbon building. At the cutting-edge institute, they conduct, encourage and support environmental research projects with an emphasis on sustainability in the built environment. Finally, our young leaders had the opportunity to collaborate and network with their peers, sharing sustainable practice and identifying achievable actions they could take in the next 5 days, 5 weeks and 5 months to make a green change within their own schools and communities. What an inspiring event! Thank you David Gerber (as well as his wonderful Conference Leadership Team and Eco Council from Fairgreen International School) for hosting the event and empowering our young leaders to make a positive environmental difference! 🌎 #Sustainability  #TASS #EnvironmentalEducation #YouthLeadership #GreenFuture

True, It was such a well-organized and impactful event! The conference not only highlighted important environmental issues but also sparked a sense of curiosity and excitement among my students. They were inspired by the thoughtfulness and creativity behind the event and are now eager to dream big and perhaps even organize something similar in the future. Huge thanks to David Gerber, Sarah Walsh, and the entire eco-council for leading the way!
