Picture this: 10,000 eco-friendly toilets installed across 22 Indian states in just eight years! These ingenious bio-toilets not only provide essential sanitation but also tackle water scarcity and reduce waste. It's like hitting three mangoes with one stone! 🎯 What really touched my heart was Banka Bio's dedication to improving children's lives. 👧👦 By equipping 1,500 schools with bio-toilets, they're boosting health, reducing waterborne diseases, and even helping girls stay in school during their periods. Talk about making a difference! And get this – their bio-digester technology is a game-changer! 🔬 It transforms waste into recycled water for gardening and biogas for cooking. How cool is that? Banka Bio isn't just a business; it's a force for good. 💪 They're proving that sustainable strategies can create real value and change lives. Pleased to attend today's 15th Sankalp Global Summit "Financing Climate Action for the Global South" run by the excellent organisation Intellecap which works in India and parts of Africa too. Vikas Bali Venkat Kotamaraju Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF). Rich and fertile discussion bringing together entrepreneurs, impact investors, policy makers, think tanks and NGOs to connect, converse, converge & collaborate. Great to hear from the The World Bank Asian Development Bank (ADB) British International Investment amongst others The key takeaways were that $4 trillion is needed each year in climate finance for the global south, but not much is flowing that way. Action is needed to #deriskinvestment .. coming to the forefront of the minds of global financial institutions, now introducing new instruments and approaches for example refinancing after construction risks are over. But domestic finance also needs to be leveraged. #Scope3emissions need to be addressed and this means thinking holistically at how we use resources and supply chains. A common understanding across #supplychains is needed with "us" learning to talk in their language, showing relevance to the M-SMEs that are so important in the field. Really exciting to hear from amazing entrepreneurs AltMat talking about circular economy the Indian way which includes substantial focus on #biowastes in particular.. wealth into value. Also some fascinating discussions on how to take forward nature based solutions. Impressed by the work being done in Tamil Nadu @supriyasahu #mangroves

Hence, I particularly connect Kofi Annan's quote with our products and materials. Together with our customers and suppliers, we need to make sure that the resources used in manufacturing are responsibly sourced and the products themselves are designed to minimize environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. For me, choosing sustainable material involves selecting resources that minimize harm to the environment and local communities. Being a part of BHTC India, I actively contribute to reducing our carbon footprint by localizing parts and implementing durable packaging for product delivery. Our commitment includes covering 65% of our demands with self-generated electricity by installing a 1076 kW solar panel system by 2024. However, sustainability extends beyond the ecological aspect – furthermore, it encompasses social aspects and our company's role within society. I take pride in our international company, which unites various cultures, religions, and languages under one roof. Spent the day interacting at the India Circular Economy Forum with industry leaders. I had the honour of discussing the vital role of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and source segregation in promoting a circular economy in India. The session moderated by Mr. Prabhjot Sodhi MBE highlighted these key insights like formalizing the informal sector and establishing MRFs, Transitioning to a circular economy and additional support required by MRF operators by Mr. Saurabh Sharma from Hyundai Motor, The importance of digitizing waste management by Mr. Nikhil Panchal from Green Aadhar and how communication plays an important role Ms. Amarpreet Kaur from CEE. In conclusion to this panel discussion, the key outcomes included the need for fire safety norms, EPR revenue support, digitized waste management, and further collaboration to align with SDGs 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 12 (responsible consumption and production). Our National Program Director, Mr. Abhijeet Sinha, redefined Circular Economy for India at RenewX 8th Edition on April 26, 2024, organized by Informa Markets with Ease of Doing Business & National Highways for EV as knowledge partners in HITEX, Hyderabad. He talked about 1% of a well-functioning circular economy that could bring India a whopping $225 million by 2030.
