Let’s Talk About Blue Monday ☔ Today is ‘Blue Monday’, often dubbed the ‘most depressing day of the year’ – but this concept was created as a PR stunt to sell holidays. Let’s be clear: challenges with your mental health don’t stick to one Monday in January. Bad days can happen at any time, which is why it’s so important to prioritise your wellbeing every single day. At Taye Training we bring wellbeing into all our courses, helping frontline professionals remember to take care of themselves too – because you can’t pour from an empty cup. If you’re finding your bad days are outweighing the good, don’t keep it to yourself. Speak to someone you trust – whether that’s a friend, family member, your GP, or a dedicated helpline. Here are some organisations that are here to listen: 📞 Mind: 0300 123 3393 📞 Samaritans: 116 123 📞 Papyrus HOPELINEUK: 0800 068 4141 📞 National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK: 0800 689 5652 📞 CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably): 0800 58 58 58 Let’s look out for each other – today and every day 💙 #Wellbeing #BlueMonday #MentalHealthAwareness #TransformYourTraining #SelfCare

It can be really frickin’ hard to talk about mental health. Really hard. We talk a lot about encouraging people to speak up when they are struggling, but they might just find that too hard. No wonder. Perhaps especially in a work environment. So let’s not only encourage people to speak up. For those who can, let’s also check in on people. Let’s ask the person we’ve been worried about if they’re ok. Let’s not leave it to people who are struggling, to also find the courage and strength to ask for help. I’m not sure anyone has ever been offended when someone asks if they are ok. Not even if they’re asked twice. If anything, the chance to let out any small amount of how awful you feel, can be like releasing enough pressure to get through the rest of the day. So today, and then maybe for other days going forward, if someone looks like they might be having a shitty time, ask them how they are. Say you noticed they look like something might be up. Ask them if they want to go and blether, or take a walk. Anything that gives them a chance to even consider opening up. You will only make a positive difference. Here’s me and my dog, who lights up my life, and I wish everyone could have one. #worldmentalhealthawarenessday

Unfortunately, really crap days can fall on any day of the year. If you are prone to experiencing mental health difficulties, these days can often come without warning and completely floor you. #BlueMonday is and always has been an insult to those people who cannot control when a bad day might come, and trivialises why these bad days happen. They might be exacerbated by the winter season, but it is highly unlikely that the third Monday in January is the root cause of poor mental health for anyone. Samaritans' #BrewMonday re-brand encourages us to use today to reach out to loved ones or colleagues over a cup of tea, and to be mindful of how we might be feeling. This is a great idea, and I'd encourage anyone who is able to, to try and have a cuppa (virtual or in person!) with a friend, colleague or loved one today and to talk about how you've been getting on. However, this isn't always possible. Our busy lives often mean we aren't able to fit these meetings in, and we might be far away from the people we wish to connect with. Kibou App can help you to start these conversations in seconds. No matter how busy your day is, being able to check in with your support network from wherever you are makes connecting about our well-being more possible. Today is as good a day as any. Try sending a score to a loved one, and see if you can replace that cuppa with some mutual support via your support circle. You can also take yourself out for a brew, too - it's a good way of warming your hands! ☕ #MentalHealthAwareness #Support

R U OK? Day shouldn’t just be one day a year—it’s a reminder for every day. Checking in on those around us, offering support and being kind should be a daily practice. I recently learned that a former colleague lost his life to suicide. The most kindest and sincere soul that always had a smile and time for everyone. It’s a heartbreaking reminder that we often don’t see the struggles people face. Let’s make an effort to check in on those around us—a smile can go further than we realise—you never know how much someone might need it. Corporate life can be tough, especially when you're surrounded by constant whispers, negative energy, or the feeling of walking on eggshells. It’s important to recognise how these environments affect our well-being and to prioritise mental health. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take the time you need and reach out for support. Your well-being should always come first, and it's okay to pause when life gets heavy. Let’s be kinder to ourselves and each other. #RUOKDay #MentalHealthAwareness #CorporateWellbeing #SupportEachOther

With the holiday season approaching, many are overwhelmed and stressed about upcoming gatherings and financial responsibilities. A therapist can help you create coping mechanisms to better your mental health during the last few months of the year. Here are some coping mechanisms that I recommended to reduce stress: 📋Problem Solving: Therapy can help you create an organized plan to help with stress and anxiety. No matter what this holiday might bring, listing and organizing a plan is the first step to mental health. 🤳Unplug your phone: Doom scrolling isn't good for you, and the reels/TikToks of how to make the perfect holiday meal, places to travel to for the perfect holiday, gifting tips and great gift insights can be overwhelming. Set a timer on your phone and take a break! 💬 Support: Talking through your stress with your primary healthcare provider or someone you love and trust is a stress-breaker. Asking for help isn't weak; it's one of the best things you can do for your mental health. Learn more about how therapy can help you this holiday season by visiting our website: https://lnkd.in/gBJp8qGW or visit this blog from the UC Davis Health Center: https://lnkd.in/g_2wt8cG #holidayseason #mentalhealthmatters #seasonaldepression
