Day 9 of "Be More Greyhound" Learning new tricks: When I brought Pepper home at 4 years old, she still had the curiosity and inexperience of a puppy. Having only lived in kennels, she didn't know what it meant to be a dog in a home. She didn't recognise her own name (which made it easier when we changed it), didn't know how to play with toys or fetch (still working on that one!), and didn't realise she had her own bed—opting for the floor instead. The outside world was unfamiliar to her, and most importantly, she didn't know what it meant to be truly loved. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Pepper has proven otherwise. With patience, care, and consistent guidance, she's learned to trust, enjoy the comfort of a home, and most importantly, experience the love she's always deserved. No one gets more love than her Slothy, who's always there as a comfy pillow. If there's one thing Pepper has taught me, it's that the only thing holding us back from learning or growing is ourselves. Whether it's learning a new skill or trying something new, it's never too late. No matter where you are in life, there's always room to develop and grow. So never let anyone tell you an old dog can't learn new tricks. #BeMoreGreyhound #OldDog #NewTricks

Update on my AWESOME Internship! Normally, 68-year-olds should be chilling in life, reaping the rewards of their years of hard work, but not Mama Tina. I had the opportunity to create a short documentary featuring one of our students, Mama Tina, a 68-year-old Filipino entrepreneur. Mama Tina has been selling "Puto Maya" (a traditional Filipino rice cake) for over 5 years. Her dilemma is living off her daily sales, much like living paycheck to paycheck. She has no savings or retirement plans; what she earns in a day only covers that day's expenses. Through this short film, you can step into Mama Tina's world and witness her grit, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. Her story is not just inspiring but a true celebration of the Filipino entrepreneurial spirit. I've been here for 2 months now, teaching business startup skills to 20+ students with my team and consulting with 10+ small business owners. As SEED interns, our mission is to foster self-reliance, so we spent a day with Mama Tina to understand her business and help elevate it to the next level. This internship has been awesome in so many ways. It’s a door for me to add value to others’ lives while also creating value in my own as it builds my character.
