I think we're all set on "what to do"/"how to become" messages to sales reps these days, don't you? Not seeing many messages for the VCs/PE firms, C-suite, and idiot recruiters on how to NOT completely f*ck things up for the people doing the heavy lifting (and providing salaries for others). Tell ya what, when sales reps start announcing their own voluntary layoffs and PiPs, or when they start ghosting themselves in interviews, then I'm thinkin' a wag of the finger is due. Fair enough? Probably falling on deaf ears because I'm making too much sense, C.W. #thestateoflinkedin. #techlife. #sales. #saleslife

We've had some pretty amazing stuff happen over at Gun.io so I gotta let my dev community know whats up.... 1. We opened up our platform to where if you are an approved dev you can now submit to all open jobs on our platform (formerly it was a wait and we will reach out to you if you are a fit situation) 2. We just launched a hell of a tool called Discover Talent where any hiring managers / recruiters can use this as a way to search our entire database for engineers that are a fit for your roles (think LinkedIn recruiter) 3. This isn't announced yet but I wanted to tease this just a little....we are going to release a feature that leverages AI to make your job easier when it comes to hiring and finding talent:) so more to come there! I read a comment on LinkedIn the other day comfortably sharing how their job application should take a candidate roughly 45 minutes to fill out. Now imagine being on the job market, knowing old research shows it takes an average of 21 to *80* job applications to get a single job. And I imagine the # of applications each candidate has to fill out is only increasing amidst industry layoffs. Earlier this year, Ashby even released new findings that inbound applications tripled in 2024. And our latest report published just today, which overall focuses on Offer Acceptance Rates, shows that inbound as a source of hires is rapidly increasing for business roles (see chart). So no matter what way you look at it, candidates are applying to more roles than ever before while stressed about securing a job. Requiring an extensive, 45-minute application as the very first step seems like a great way to miss out on qualified talent and highlight a lack of empathy in the current market. 4 step workflow that will help you land a great job 🔥 1️⃣ View Vendr's Q3 Software trends report (link in comments) ➡️These are the hottest companies in the market right now. Going after jobs at these companies will significantly reduce (not eliminate) your risk of joining a company that will fail or go through layoffs. 2️⃣ Go to those company's websites and find the open roles that interest you. 3️⃣ Go to RepVue and cross reference those roles/companies with RepVue data. ➡️Look for high quota attainment, good reviews, and eliminate any roles/companies that don't meet your standards. 4️⃣ Go to LinkedIn and find connections who work at those companies. ➡️Hit them up on LinkedIn with a SHORT InMail message asking to pick their brain on best ways to get in with that company.
