Went to Formula 1 in Miami, had sky-high expectations, only to be completely let down from a service standpoint. There was a noticeable gap between what we anticipated and what we actually received. For the price we paid for our tickets, it should have been SOOOO much better. And I'm not alone in my disappointment. Check out social media, and you'll see the flames of discontent burning bright. Now contrast that to the Kentucky Derby, which I've had a chance to experience several times as well, which was also going on the same weekend. Churchhill Downs consistently knocks it out of the park, every time I've been they've gone above and beyond to exceed expectations from a service level. So, here's the million-dollar question: What are you doing in YOUR business to surpass your customers' expectations? It's not just about meeting them; it's about blowing them out of the water! Something For The Weekend : Today marks the day of the highly anticipated #BritishGrandPrix at #Silverstone. During the race, #strategies are constantly being recalculated to determine the best course of action, both data-driven #analysis and adjustments based on real time change. Black history celebrates those who trailblazed against the odds. A true trailblazer is Wendell Scott, owner driver of Team 34 and the first African American to win a race in the NASCAR Grand National Series. The link below is an image of my father the late Raymond Arnold, Jr, who was a pit crew member of this Team 34. I recall asking him what was taking place when this photo was taken. He mentioned it was a routine unfair scrutiny taking place regarding their compliance of race car. While growing up, I didn't fully realize the significance of the history that was unfolding. The resilience of Scott and Team 34 paved the way for others to have better experience. They were never able to secure a corporate sponsor like the other drivers, thus putting them at financial disadvantage and inequitable opportunity. Companies were not willing to support a black driver during this time, despite the expertise they saw in Scott's abilities. I admire the unwavering courage of the team and enthusiasm. The unwelcoming environment, racial barriers and the lack of corporate sponsorship did not deter their commitment. Motorsports was robbed from benefiting from the contributions they could have made to the sport for the good of all. We will never know what an equitable environment would have provided, not just for Team 34, but motorsports as a whole. This is why I continue to advocate and elevate DEI today and encourage allyship. We cannot afford to let society miss out on human capability that contributes to the greater good. Allyship works for the good of all because it enables opportunity for human potential to benefit all.

Good News Friday is here! Now, whether you are a basketball fan or not, an Oakland University fan or not, last night was an absolute lesson in how one identifies where they are and sees the Dream where they want to go as Oakland upset Kentucky in the NCAA tournament, a 14 seed beating a 3 seed and powerhouse. The article I am reposting from Front Office Sports provides an insight to an individual who was a redshirt freshman at an DII school but whose dream was to be on the court with the best. If you follow basketball, this is a Dream, and one that takes what I hope every leader is willing to admit they need: 🌄 Willing to dream - Let lose, dream at work and dream at home, be willing to do it! You did it as a kid, you can do it again! Remember your dreams as a kid, you wanted to be the best at a certain sport, hobby, whatever it was and you would do everything to make it happen. Some of our best inventions and leaders have been those that dared to dream. People love to get behind a Dream! 🗣 Others - This individual, Jack Gohlke, needed coaches, trainers, his teammates, and many others at the university to be successful. Are you willing to let others help you be successful? 👷♂️ Hard Work - There will never be a substitute for this, and I am not talking about being so consumed that you don't have time for your family, others, or have horrible balance. But when you are in the arena, when you are in practice, when you are at work, you are giving your best, because you know the dream is worth it. Great PGA Show this year! Attendance was up, more exhibitors and A LOT of buzz all week about tech and customer/member experience. While we at On-Pin International (Bob Baldassari PGA and Randy Clay) did not have a booth, we were able to make some incredible connections and are excited about the future. If you haven't talked to me about how our GPS and VerifEye systems can help you solve your everyday challenges, you should. Those that we met with at the Show can't wait to get installed and help share their stories. You will often read that comparing yourself to others is a bad thing... I beg to differ. I am massively competitive, but maybe not in the way you might think. I compare myself to and actively compete against others - and they don't even know about it. This happens when I am: - racing through airport security - walking a city block - waiting in one of many grocery checkout lines - passing through EZ-Pass toll booths Every one of these scenarios gives me the chance to pick an unwitting competitor and see if I can beat them to a finish line only I know about. It adds a tiny amount of excitement to my day, keeping me focused. If I win, I celebrate with a smile. And if I "lose", there's always another opportunity for a win just around the corner!
