Identified a problem, made the solution—what now? It's Go To Market (GTM). But isn't it simple? Just go to market and start selling our product or service in every possible way, right? Or do we need a proper strategy for GTM? Yes, we do. A well-crafted GTM strategy is crucial, as it varies based on your product/service and target group (TG). Big brands often have dedicated teams for this. I recently came across an amazing 3Cs checklist for assessing the right GTM: Channel, Content, and Consistency while deep diving into the amazing book written by Sarthak Ahuja "Daily Coffee and Startup Fundraising". Channel: Identifying the right channel maximizes discovery among your initial TG. Content: It feeds the right information and encourages the TG to try your product/service. Consistency: Repeating these efforts consistently keeps you in sight of the TG, generating valuable feedback from early consumers and refining your strategies. GTM is an execution process. I believe that executing GTM early on provides exact feedback from the market, helping refine products and services with minimal costs or losses. That's why GTM expert Maja Voje and I spent the last 3 weeks researching the best practices for a pitch perfect GTM slide. We analyzed 85 decks that successfully raised $375M to give you a template of the ideal early-stage GTM slide. It has a few components: 1️⃣ A bar chart of your primary GTM metric. ↳For a PreSeed round the primary GTM metric on the graph could be # of free users, LOIs, etc. from our list of KPIs on Tuesday. ↳For Seed or Series A it can be users, revenue, etc. 2️⃣ What is working ↳ These are your highlights of your best growth channels, tactics, key customers signed, waitlist signups, etc. ↳It's *how* your generating the traction in the bar chart. 3️⃣ Untapped opportunities ↳ These are things you're doing badly today... but that you have data which indicates they'll perform well for you when you have the time / budget / team to go pursue them. A slide like this can save dozens of hours of meetings explaining your GTM strategy, because they can see for themselves. Even more importantly... It points VCs toward the leading indicators of success that you want them to pay attention to. It helps you set the rules of engagement for how they'll evaluate your business.
