Today at the notary to register a German NGO for 4training.net ✍ 🎉 We need a legal entity to get the app under its proper name into the iOS store (and actually before the end of the year we need that for the Android Play Store as well). And to enable donations for this non-profit project. Sometimes the challenging work is not so much in software development but in building the (legal) infrastructure that is necessary to enable and sustain a growing work. And interacting with German authorities to obtain the NGO status can take quite some time and energy, especially in Berlin... hope everything will go smoothly finally and the NGO will be operational within 2-3 months 🙏 #NonProfit #NGO #LegalEntity #iOS #Android #AppDevelopment #LegalInfrastructure #TechForGood #Vereinsgründung

Volunteer Spotlight: Gráinne McIntyre Grainnes approach to volunteering highlights the unique blend of leveraging existing skills while embracing opportunities for growth and learning. Grainne recently assisted DAISY, a charity supporting women affected by domestic abuse. Before the pandemic, DAISY operated with an office-based, paper system for in-person support. The pandemic forced a shift to telephone, online, WhatsApp, email, and in-person services. Struggling to adapt, DAISY turned to the STA and Grainne utilized AI to enhance their service delivery and case management, enabling the charity to continue their critical work effectively. Grainne shares her experience: "It's a great opportunity to use your existing skill set, but also a chance to pick up some new ones as well. As an example of this, on my latest project, I'm looking at introducing some AI to help solve a charities issue at the moment." One of my goals for 2024 is to spend more time volunteering. As a transformational leader I think there is so much that nonprofits can do with technology to help make the world a better pace. I want to take some of what I've learned about technology and leadership to give back. From coding to tech strategy I want to find a way to help. And yet, I've been having trouble finding an organization that is ready to accept help. The organizations I've spoken with have the capability for volunteers handing out flyers but no easy way to accept strategic or technology related help.
