As the CEO of Dow Chemical Company, Jim Fitterling has been a prominent advocate for LGBTQ inclusion in the workplace. Since coming out publicly in 2014, he has worked tirelessly to make Dow a more inclusive environment, including appointing the company's first Chief Inclusion Officer and flying the rainbow flag at Dow’s headquarters. February is LGBT+ History Month, and there is such a vibrant tapestry of stories, struggles, and triumphs that make up the LGBT community - a community I am super proud to be a part of! This month isn't just about reflecting on our past; it's about igniting conversations, nurturing understanding, and building a more inclusive future for everyone. So, why does celebrating LGBT History Month matter? Primarily because it's an opportunity to honour those who have paved the way for the rights and freedoms we enjoy today, and it reminds us of the work that there is still to do. It's a time to celebrate diversity, promote equality, and remind ourselves of the importance of visibility and representation. However, as well as delving into the past, let's also celebrate the present and work towards a future where everyone can live authentically and without fear.
