In 2024, 91.2% of Board positions in Australia are held by Anglo-Celts – trending up from 90.5% in 2017. This is not a surprising statistic, although something so glaringly obvious can still make you gasp when put out in the open via a report! Last week I attended the launch of the 2024 Board Diversity Index Report. An extraordinary piece of work brought together by Watermark Search International in partnership with Governance Institute of Australia. Thank you David Evans for presenting some eye-opening findings. The launch was MC’d by the remarkable Paul Nicolaou, Director, Business Sydney – the one and only, and included a panel discussion. A very candid and frank discussion by the panel Pauline Vamos, Chair, Governance Institute of Australia; Linda Scott (GAICD), Chair, Care Super; Councillor, City of Sydney; and President, Australian Local Government Association, Adam Davids, Partner, First Nations Equity Partners, and Mark Baxter,BEc, FIAA, CERA, FGIA, Co-Founder, Australian LGBTQ+ Board & Executive Inclusion (ALBEI). What remains with me is the comment made by someone at my table – “It is daunting to go into the unknown. Opening up to people who are different to you requires courage” Till then, we will keep at it – using the amazing work done in the report to bring this discussion to the forefront and creating a world where diversity of thought is important – not just gender / ethnicity. #successculture #diversity #leadership #leadershipmindset #growth #RuchiMotialSuri

Future-focused leaders seek to make a meaningful impact—whether it’s reducing their carbon footprint or boosting contributions to LGBTQ+ organizations. Yet to ensure the long-term financial health of investors, organizations must also establish purpose-driven performance metrics. So how can companies ensure their efforts measure up? It starts with assessing their purpose-driven objectives and motivation. Then, they can choose what strategies—compliance, cause, action—best align with their goals and culture. Read the Strategic Finance article from Julie Smith David, Tracey Sutherland and Paddy Harrington for a breakdown of how to build a framework that measures impact: https://lnkd.in/gwEBY4-a #PurposeDriven #finance #ESG #strategy

"Inclusive hiring practices and equal opportunities not only give businesses access to a wider talent pool but also empower marginalised groups, helping to reduce social inequalities. Moreover, businesses with inclusive policies tend to better understand and serve diverse consumer markets, increasing the likelihood of better financial performance." By championing diversity, equity and inclusion, businesses have the power to become agents of positive change in an uncertain time, write John McNamara FCA, who is Chair of #balance , the Chartered Accountants Ireland LGBTQ+ allies network group and Executive Director and CFO at AIB life, and Conor Hudson, FCA, who is a Finance Director and member of BALANCE. Hare Krishn 🙏 Equality. Equality. Equality. Do we actually consider each other equal?? It starts with you. It starts with me. 💡Let me highlight certain points that we should actually bring into action. 📍Men have an equal right to feel sad or cry like everyone else. Can we take an initiative to help men unconceal their emotions without being judgmental?! 📍Women talk about equality, give your shoulders to share the burdens girls. 📍Househusbands should also be normalized like housewives. Preparing a cup of tea for your wife shouldn't hurt your male ego. 📍Women safety especially at workplace should be taken into action (it's still just limited to articles and 112). 📍I think it's high time to take an action for providing a comfortable society for LGBTQ community with equal job opportunities at work place. 🌈 Well, there are numerous such acts that goes unnoticed. Why to follow baseless societal ethics which itself divides people and later talks about equality??

Today, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the 'Investor Guide to LGBTQ+ Inclusion' is launched. The report is the result of six months of research by Ken Janssens, Jude Seimon and Jon Miller and explores the integration of LGBTQ+ inclusive policies and practices within ESG strategies. The insights, according to Ken Janssens: 1️⃣ Forget ‘Go Woke, Go Broke’: companies with the top 25 LGBTQ+ Transparency Scores are 2.3 times more profitable than the bottom 25. 2️⃣ DEI isn’t dead: 92% of companies now list DEI as a material issue. This means they believe that poor performance on DEI could threaten the long-term viability of their business and social license to operate. 3️⃣ Follow the money – global LGBTQ+ consumer spending power is growing and eclipses the GDP of many leading economies. 4️⃣ ESG isn’t a ‘fad’ – investor interest in LGBTQ+ inclusion is increasing. Ken Janssens: ‘This report is a key resource for investors, corporate leaders, and policymakers, as well as civil society organisations seeking to understand and leverage the power of LGBTQ+ inclusion not just as a moral imperative but as a strategic business practice.’ https://lnkd.in/d7SY4tWg Let’s get to work 👏🏼 #houseofinclusion #dei

Founder, EDGE Certified Foundation, custodians of the world's leading DE&I Certification standard, and EDGE Strategy, provider of EDGE Empower, DE&I data for businesses. Thought leader on Forbes Business Council
A strong DE&I strategy is not only a legal, moral and ethical imperative, but in industries like fashion, it can also deliver a proven competitive advantage. From attracting, retaining, developing, and motivating diverse talent to driving investment from ESG funds, a robust data-led DE&I strategy is more critical to sustainable business success than ever before. A workplace life is not homogenous, but beautifully and richly heterogeneous. Organizations must broaden their approach to gender beyond a binary perspective. Taking tangible steps towards meaningful change for LGBTQ+ communities is imperative.
