A repeatable (and therefore scaleable) sales process is NOT necessarily: - mechanical - inpersonal - entirely automated Founders so often misinterpret the (very good) advice to focus on building a scaleable sales process. They hear scale / repeatability and assume that this means building a machine where you feed in nameless prospects and crank out deals. Ideally, your repeatable sales process DOES allow you to build data-driven forecasts and to view your pipeline and growth potential empirically. But this does NOT mean that you ever treat any given deal like a cog in that system. Even as you scale to more prospects, more people on your team, more market segments, never lose focus on what matters most: adding value for the customer or prospect in front of you. A genuine desire to be helpful should always be front and center. Building a scaleable process simply means creating a framework for you and your prospect on how to move forward around that intention. Always stuns me when I see companies using sales tactics from the early 1980's; just cold calling through lists in total hope process - what is that analogy - even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. Most sellers hate cold-prospecting - I know I did when I sold - and being told no even when I do get someone responding. Shifting to proper prospecting and account and contact prioritization just makes you efficient - which means more time selling to accounts where there is a MUCH higher chance of them being interested!
