Yesterday, we had an informative and witty discussion about cross-cultural perceptions and the implementation of fundamental changes with Yevhen Hlibovytsky, director of the Frontier Institute, moderated by Tetyana Troshchynska, winner of the Georgiy Gongadze Prize-2024, journalist and media manager. It was a meeting with the readers of my book, "Understanding Ukrainians: Cross-Cultural Perspective" (paper: https://lnkd.in/dVm9HRgX, electronic: https://lnkd.in/dBbXEvUB). Here https://lnkd.in/d5eUjWMy is the video from this event. The event was held in Ukrainian. If you don't have time to watch the 1.5 hour-long discussion, here are the key points: ☑️ High- (Ukraine) and low- (USA)context cultures and peculiarities of conveying information and meaning through words and other means. ☑️ Key societal characteristics of Ukrainians: distrust of institutions and hyper-trust in 'in-group'; adaptability bordering on fluidity of opinion; desire for freedom unlimited agency to act as one pleases (73% of Ukrainians considered freedom more important than equality in 2023). ☑️ Polarization factors in our society - from totalitarian and colonial trauma to hostility and dysfunction of formal institutions. ☑️ Why citizens-state relations are so complicated in Ukraine. ☑️ Reforms and change - where implementation errors occur. ☑️ Ability of different societal “bubbles” to negotiate and reach agreement - what is needed to make it happen. ☑️ Why Ukrainians and Russians often look similar in several systems of classifying national cultures and how to spot the (significant) differences. ☑️ Perception of corruption in Ukraine and different bases of corruption in Ukraine and Russia - preventing failures of institutions vs. a food chain with a focus on dominance. ☑️ 'Bickering' (srachi) as our “national sport” - not manifestation of democracy at all - how this phenomenon emerges and what to do with it.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, dedicated to promoting reconciliation efforts with Indigenous peoples. Let us take this opportunity to deepen our understanding of the richness and diversity of the history, languages, cultures, and experiences of the First Nations in New Brunswick, including the Mi'kmaq and the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet). Let us commit to participating in local events or consulting educational resources to enhance our knowledge and engagement towards reconciliation. #ReconciliationNB #IndigenousHistoryAndCulture

The Quran describes Gog and Magog, referred to as Yajuj and Majuj, as two destructive and monstrous forces that will appear before the Day of Judgement. Here's a descriptive feature based on the Quran: Destructive and Chaotic: The Quran portrays them as making "mischief in the earth" (Surah Al-Kahf, 18:94). Islamic commentaries interpret this as widespread destruction and disorder. Immense Numbers: They are described as emerging in massive hordes that will overwhelm the earth (Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:96). Primitive and Barbarous: There's no mention of advanced technology, implying they rely on brute force and violence. Obscured Origins: The Quran doesn't specify their exact location, only that they were a dangerous people contained by a barrier (Surah Al-Kahf, 18:94). Superhuman Destructiveness: Some narrations depict them as consuming vast resources, like drinking entire lakes dry ( احاديث ). It's important to note that the Quran offers a symbolic description, focusing on their role as harbingers of chaos before the end times. Produced by Muhammad Shakombo https://lnkd.in/dbS6SJ6y

It is admirable to recognize ourselves in cross-cultural studies :) . Nowadays the knowledge about the cross-cultural communication is crucial to reach effective collaboration between different teams in the multicultural environment of the modern companies. I can only recommend to learn the insights shared by Maryna Starodubska.

https://lnkd.in/gwU4GW8 I have posted this article a number of times and it never gets old. The sentiments I shared remain to this day. What are you doing to understand your place in te ao Māori? I do not speak te reo Māori fluently but I understand the commonalities with my own Gagana Samoa; how to navigate and move within mainstream spaces using our natural way of being as a collective community. How does this article stack up against the Treaty Principles Bill? As Pacific born in Aotearoa NZ, I wonder how I can contribute to a collective community of Māori allies. #AionoAnalysis
