For Sightlines, I dig into what's behind the most successful beverages in c-stores: the ability to make drinkers feel different, physically or mentally. Whether that’s a productivity boost, a lift in mood, or the intoxicating effects of a 9.5% ABV Imperial IPA, drinkers in c-stores in particular are looking to meet an immediate physiological need. (Energy drinks alone represent a third of beverage sales in the channel.) It makes sense, given the “convenience” part of convenience stores: Shoppers in that channel are on-the-go, making a decision about what beverage will alter their mind or body *right now.* If a beverage brand wants to compete in the c-store channel, it has to make a clear pitch to consumers about what tangible changes they can expect after consuming it. https://lnkd.in/gq6eBe26
