Thanks for this wonderful post, 🇩🇪Swen Busch🐾🐾! My first thought after seeing these cute owls was: “What you seek, is seeking you.” It is from Persian poet Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī, more popularly known as Rumi.
And here is the verse from which it’s drawn:
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing, there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about.
What you seek, is seeking you.”
People have interpreted the line from this verse in a variety of ways. And if you google the quote, you can find an assortment of relevant posts. Though, at a glance, it seems most are centered on purpose. Yet, as owls are a symbol of wisdom, even playing significant roles in various cultures and mythologies, that is another possible association.
As a career coach and strategist, I see another lesson here. Specifically that satisfaction and fulfillment in life generally, is supported by practices that lie beyond typical success formulas promoted by career and business advisors. Rather, we are best served by choosing and walking our own path – and to find that path by listening to our own inner voice.
How?
By taking time to achieve insights through practicing mindfulness to develop a sense of purpose, developing compassion for self and others, and by gaining appreciation of the interconnectedness of all life.
