Couldn't agree more with the first point. A lot of times in a male dominant setting, women will be given miscellaneous tasks...which is important to be done, but doesn't give significant enough impact for her to get a good performance rating or a promotion. And this causes them to get stuck longer unless they choose to move to a department that gives them more opportunity to shine. That's if their boss will let them go to that 'other place'. Cause most of the time, keeping them in the current setting is more beneficial for the current boss as they don't need to think much about where they can assign all those important yet insignificant tasks to their workers.
Forget a seat at the table—step onto the dance floor and enjoy the party! Embrace life fully, take bold steps, and savor every moment. Instead of waiting for opportunities, create your own and celebrate your unique journey. Life is too short to sit on the sidelines. Get out there, dance to your own rhythm, and make every moment count!
Her idea is inspiring and empowering! It's a call to action for creating our opportunities and spaces.
Gems of insight, this will stay with me: Build better tables, value potential over proof, make space for us. this is so key for a growth mindset.
Lately, I've been hearing statements like "If you want something, you need to go out there and make it happen". Many celebrities like Vanessa Williams, @Alicia Keys and even @Taylor Swift often find themselves proclaiming this sentences in their media interviews. Well, let me say this. It's about time we finally get it. "Power to the Doers. They redifine tomorrows". 🤲💪
I can't wait either, then we can use all that struggle-and-fight-energy in better ways.
Why ask to be seated at someone else's table when you can create your own table and invite the people you want to be at the table?
Absolutely inspiring words! Creating a whole new table is the way forward. Thank you for sharing this powerful message, TED Conferences.

3wDon't settle for a seat at the table, but build your own bigger and better table. Never stop building your own tables in the quest. Diversity & Equity are useless without Inclusion. Inclusion is not assimilation. Stop the numbers game and tokenism. I don't think it's just about having a seat at the table, but it's about the whole structure that needs reframation, inclusion, support, empowerment and encouragement. Restructuring needs rethinking with a broad new approach imbibed with authenticity, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This will indeed result in co-creating a better future. Rather, I would like to suggest every woman to expect nothing from the system, simply perform the best by embracing Quirks and be your own self.
