I am at 4YFN 2024 in Barcelona at the #mwc2024 I see around me lots of people at the stands, bored, looking at their mobile phones while waiting for someone to pop-up and ask them what they do. I also see lots of people wondering around, trying to quickly read people's badges in look for the golden lead. Not sure about you but I have been in soooo many trade shows and, from a sales perspective, to me there is only one conclusion: if you don't work a lot before and after the event, the event itself is a total waste of time. Look for lists of attendees, exhibitors, speakers... whatever you can get your hands on, and start prospecting them way before the event starts asking for a meeting. Same thing with the follow ups. Try to have hard closings during your conversations at the event because when people go back home and have to face a very full inbox after a few days away, they won't pay attention to you unless you closed a follow up meeting/call/etc during you meeting at the event.
