They are: Enpower Greentech Inc. – who develop solid-state batteries for EVs, drones and eVTOLs. Hygreen Energy – who install water electrolysis hydrogen equipment for a range of industrial uses. #Enerflow – specialists in vanadium flow technology that can extend the lifespan of rechargeable batteries. TG0 – pioneers in touch-sensing technologies for sectors including healthcare and entertainment. Zelostech – which develops intelligent driving solutions. Each of these new members will contribute directly to the UAE’s pursuit of a technologically advanced, low-carbon and digitally enabled economy. #ITSDubai2024! On the last day of this well-organized Congress, I had the honor to moderate a very important panel discussion: ‘Traffic Management and the electric grid’. How can managing the grid capacity help us optimize the flow of traffic? Can Traffic Managers plan ahead if they have access to the data from the electric grid and how does data from the charging stations help in forecasting the upcoming traffic peaks? How can we analyze and forecast the sales and penetration of eVs based on data from the Grid Operators and last but not at all least, how can we plan the positioning of charging stations in neighborhoods better, based on origin demand. Very important questions and very interesting exchange of perspectives from the very knowledgeable panelists: Jørgen Bundgaard Wanscher (Hermes Traffic Intelligence); Pedro Barradas (Armis ITS - Intelligent Transport Systems); Jop Spoelstra (Technolution); Theocharis Vlachopanagiotis (Rhoé ). We (the Traffic Management community) need to link to the energy sector and the grid operators. We need to invite them to join the table of discussion and co-create our win-win models, where mobility stakeholders manage and balance the mobilty networks also taking into account the parameter of eV charging capacity and where grid operators manage and balance the energy grid taking into account the traffic flows and peaks. The engaged audience at the Seasion and the panelists found the dialogue between the two industries (energy and mobility) to be essential and the participation of the public authorities very much needed.
