#ThursdayThriving Another amazing #collisiontoronto Day 2 was done. This year, there are 37,832 attendees from 117 countries joining the #collision conference. 42 percent are women. There are so many great innovative solutions and potential use of AI and Gen AI. Very exciting to see. However, what I love most about attending tech conferences such as the #collision is more than seeing the cool applications of technology. It is about through listening to the experts, talking to professionals from different backgrounds and perspectives that made me pause and ponder on the ideas of how our future may look like, how society may change depending on the decisions and steps we are going to take now and each step of the way as individuals, companies, and governments on the use of technology and how much effort we are to make to help people to navigate the change and impact that it is going to bring. The key is to keep an open mind , willingness to listen to diverse ideas and perspectives, learn together, and to collaborate and find a right path for human and planet to evolve with tech. Keeping the People in the center of technology driven innovation is key to a brighter future and thrive. I am so excited to announce that after two years from my intial idea during medical school, OVUM. Technology is finally at the stage that we are about to begin running focus groups and product trials with private clinics, and later in the year clinical trials with hospitals throughout Australia! I cannot believe we already have over 50 women signed up - wanting to share their experiences with health and help create a tool that truly reflects the needs of women, and what they need to engage more with their health. This is what is most important at OVUM. Technology - creating a personalised tool for women to better manage their health and fundamentally make looking after themselves easy! Therefore, we need the voices of real women to help us do this. We want to hear what the problems are, and what solutions would help improve them. We also need help training the first A.I specifically on real women’s health data - to begin to close the gender health gap, which is a one trillion dollar problem as per the recent McKinsey Health Institute Gender Health Gap Report. Did you know that 85% of AI produce erranous outcomes when it comes to women, as a consequence of our gendered global data sets? Given the fact AI is not going anywhere - we need to start collecting more representative data so that we can reduce this burden on women, especially within healthcare.
