Many students require different levels of support to be successful in college. This webinar will focus on what to look for when seeking support for your student. Joining us will be Travis Brown from Bowling Green State University’s FLY program and Leann DiAndreth-Elkins representing Muskingum University’s PLUS program. Both schools offer programs specializing in additional academic support services for students with learning differences. A Leaving Cert student graduating from Terenure College in Dublin will complete his education having never missed a day of school. James Brennan (19) has had a perfect attendance record through secondary school and even going back to primary school at Divine Word National School in Rathfarnham. He will celebrate his graduation from Terenure College alongside his peers today. The secret to never missing a day, even despite a pandemic? James said it was all about loving going to school and having luck on his side with his health. “I always enjoyed going to school. I love to learn, I love the craic in school with the lads and my friends. Wanting to go to school made me want to never miss a day. I wanted to always be in school to learn,” he said. We are excited to announce a $1,155,000 grant to the College of Education and Human Development - University of Minnesota to develop and offer an Indigenous Education for All online course. This new course will be free to the public with the goal of increasing awareness and knowledge of Tribal Nations in Minnesota, their history and traditions, as well as contemporary Tribal life and governance. The grant grew from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC)’s Understand Native Minnesota campaign to improve the Native American narrative in Minnesota schools. Learn more:
