WHISKY GALORE 8 : J&B Martini Blend First, there was the gin martini. Then came vodka. Now, anything goes. You can even have an espresso martini. So one day I thought, why not a whisky martini? Let's create a Scotch specially designed to be served as the base for a martini. Scotch can be as diverse as astringent, peaty Lagavulin and soft, estery Famous Grouse. There's enough variety in the hundreds of distilleries in Scotland to produce a unique martini blend. Our martini whisky must be utterly different. We would employ a world class gin distiller as the lead. Because that's where the martini began. And a brilliant whisky person as a second-in-com mand. Someone who knew every distillery in Scotland. And finally, a mixologist to provide the magic touch. And we'd start in New York, where the martini began. Where people would be receptive to a new idea. And we'd bring back J&B and make it famous again. It was once the biggest-selling Scotch in America. J&B Martini Blend hasn't happened yet. I am waiting patiently to see if anyone will take it on. It is no longer my idea. It's anybody's! Go for it. That story isn't in my book - yet. But J&B is one of my 'hero' brands. Check it out on https://lnkd.in/eyRzmuK for a stack of brand stories, winners and losers. And lots of fun. #innovation #ideas #themartini #whisky #drinksbusiness

"Tequila vs. Brandy/Cognac/Whisky: Breaking Industry Paradigms" In the world of spirits, Tequila is often overlooked in comparison to the likes of Brandy, Cognac, and Whisky. However, it's time to rethink this narrative. Tequila possesses the potential to emerge as the most intriguing spirit globally. Did you know? Tequila can boast at least 600 different flavor profiles, surpassing Cognac's 300 and Whisky's 150. This richness in flavors, combined with its versatility and stringent quality controls, positions Tequila as a unique and competitive spirit. Consider the market size: In the United States, Brandy/Cognac has a market volume of about 148 million liters, and Whisky about 637.5 million liters (Euromonitor, 2022). Tequila, along with Mezcal, holds a substantial market volume of 285 million liters (Euromonitor, 2022) in the U.S. It's time to challenge the norms and recognize Tequila's capability to contend for the crown in the distilled spirits category. Creating a series of cocktails for your cocktail menu, weather its seasonal, monthly or bi-monthly is a great tool to keep your regular customers and guests revisiting your venue and falling in love with your bar program. This is exactly what the legendary Milk&Honey did. The bar team created a series called “HANDS” featuring different cocktails that essentially were variations of other successful cocktails. The Right Hand (Aged Rum), Tres Hands (Tequila/Mezcal) and Smoking Hand (Scotch) were examples of this series. The Left Hand, created by Sam Ross is a play on the Negroni…just before the Boulevardier had its comeback to popularity. @samueljoelross *Original recipe called for Bittermans chocolate bitters (I couldn’t get my hands (right or left) on it for this vid, so try it both ways and let me know your thoughts👇 THE LEFT HAND 1.5 oz Bourbon .75 oz Sweet Vermouth .75 oz Campari 3 dashes chocolate bitters Brandies cherry garnish Served..up #eventplanning #eventplanner #customerretention
