This week Emilie Mazzacurati and I had the opportunity to attend Battelle's #ICR24 event alongside some amazing and visionary ecosystem and company builders in the climate resilience and adaptation space. Key take aways from this conference: 🔬 Research and innovation is happening across various fields that we can leverage to address adaptation and resilience challenges but we need company builders to realize these opportunities! 🏛 With massive government funding for infrastructure, energy systems, national security, and science comes huge opportunity to fund the next generation of adaptation and resilience founders BUT we need clear demand signals from government and better procurement programs at early stages 🌳 We need to find agile ways to test solutions alongside communities so that we can refine them with impact in mind and solicit feedback from those who stand to gain and lose the most as solutions are commercialized 🏗 Creative and catalytic capital sources are needed to fund new innovations in this space. We urgently need philanthropy, government, and the private sector working TOGETHER to build a capital stack purpose built for resiliency impact! As we learned on climate tech mitigation, it takes a village to build an ecosystem. I'm thankful that our team at Tailwind has the opportunity to work with so many visionary leaders as we create the enabling conditions for scale in the climate adaptation and resilience space. I, the author of this article, had a call with Nika.eco's founder, Johann Wah, this morning, and I must say I had a hard time understanding its product and how it is used. But after our 45-minute call, I got a fair understanding of what it does (we have a bigger feature coming soon). Anyway, climate modelling is an emerging concept, and sooner or later, every organisation will be forced to adopt technologies like Nika.eco to track its GHG emissions. “ICLEI is a global force in local climate action. By combining the expertise and network of ICLEI USA with the technology of ClimateView, we’re making data-informed climate planning structured, measurable and accessible, laying the foundation for financing. This cross-pollination of knowledge and solutions between cities will help local governments in the United States and beyond to reach their targets.” ICLEI USA + ClimateView = accelerating the transition by combining speed and scale ⚡️🌎
ICLEI USA and ClimateView announce their intention to partner to create next-generation technology solutions for city planning, investment, and implementation. This partnership harnesses the potential of integrating the capabilities of ICLEI USA’s climate planner tool (ClearPath) with the ClimateView platform. Released to California local governments in 2013 and nationally in 2014, ICLEI’s ClearPath software is the industry-leading climate inventory and modeling tool used by more than 900 U.S. local and regional governments. “A partnership with ClimateView allows us to develop a platform 2.0 with an improved user interface and access to new features, including public dashboards for stakeholder engagement, as well as the potential to leverage artificial intelligence" says Angie Fyfe, Executive Director of ICLEI USA.

It's that time of the year again... As 2023 comes to a close, it is a time for reflections on the previous year. And on top of this tradition, we see many predictions for the upcoming year. ⚡ My favorite so far was Sightline Climate (CTVC)'s 2024 Climate Oracle, with many very interesting predictions about the state of climate investments, with important questions about what will 2024 bring forth for #DAC, #VCM and M&A in the field. 🔍 What caught my eye in particular was a significant disagreement on the future of O&G acquisitions - while on many predictions, investors seemed relatively united, O&G acquisitions seemed to divide opinions, making me question whether 2024 will bring an acquisition spree of ClimateTech solutions by O&G companies, or will this be just another happening. At any rate, if you read only one prediction on climate investment, read this one! Uri Fishelson Preeti Pincha Roee Furman David Schatsky Lihi Hershkovitz Sahar Yazdanpour Eyal Hulata
