This time last year we celebrated our charity shop Boutique raising £1,000,000 for our life-changing work since opening two decades ago. With the esteemed Mary Portas having described Boutique as ‘one of her most loved charity shops’, and Time Out labelling it one of London’s best, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. All this praise comes for good reason: the shop is stacked with everything you could possibly want. From clothes to books, vinyl, artwork and more. Boutique is a treasure trove of delights – head to 19 Churton Street in London's Pimlico to have a look. In order to fund our work to end new HIV cases and fight HIV stigma, we count on the amazing support of the communities around us. If you’d like to help your planet, your HIV charity of choice, and people living with HIV, you can donate today. Find out more⬇️

The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and their manager Jim Beach in memory of rock band Queen's iconic lead #singer Freddie Mercury who died in 1991 from #AIDS related causes. ... For many years, the MPT has focused on #funding #Education and Awareness projects in the developing world, believing that knowledge and prevention are key to tackling this terrible #disease. The projects funded cover a breadth of education and awareness issues, ranging from educating grandparents looking after their grandchildren #orphaned by AIDS in #Cambodia, to preventing mother to child transmission in #SouthAfrica, to HIV awareness #theatre in #PapuaNewGuinea and educating sexually active youth globally. Although the MPT donates to the large #NGO's and well-known charities, the greater part of funding goes direct to small grassroots organisations, which the bigger charities tend to overlook. By doing so, the MPT makes a real difference. We are proud of the fact that more that 93p in each pound we raise goes to funding projects spread across the globe and in total the MPT has #funded well over 1,500 projects in 57 countries, giving away over £17m in the global battle against AIDS. HELP US to use Freddie’s memory and charisma to keep funding these desperately needed #HIV / AIDS global initiatives." https://lnkd.in/eAESPXsG #mercuryphoenixtrust

📣 FYI: This year's A Taste for Life theme is "Not Letting Our Stories Disappear." We asked our HIV Lived Experience Advisory why we should raise funds for HIV-STBBI care at Nine Circles on April 17. The HLEA answered: "Celebrating A Taste for Life’s 25th year, it prompts us to reflect on the importance of Nine Circles and its mission. Easy to support, Nine Circles plays a pivotal role in drawing attention to the rising rates of HIV in Manitoba, a consequence of chronic underfunding for HIV care. Supporting Nine Circles is not just an act of support; it's an investment in the health and well-being of oneself and one's family. The stark reality that HIV can affect anyone at any time underscores the importance of backing this cause. Beyond individual concerns, there exists a collective responsibility to get involved, as those who head out on April 17th are not only supporting care, but prevention of HIV-STBBIs." Support Nine Circles and our life-saving care when you order at a participating A Taste for Life location. ❤️ LOCATIONS 👉 atasteforlife.org/winnipeg DONATE 👉 ninecircles.ca/donate . . . #atasteforlife #atasteforlife2024 #atasteforlifewinnipeg #atfl #atfl2024 #atflwpg2024 #atflwpg #hivaids #nonprofit #hivawareness #aidsawareness #harmreduction

Just 36 more hours to have your donation tripled! https://lnkd.in/eiSGyDq9 The results speak for themselves. Only a few years ago, expectant mother’s with HIV lived in fear of passing on the virus to their unborn child. Now we are seeing mother-to-child transmission rates of almost 0%* across the 39 villages where we work. That’s 1,700 babies born over the past 6 years, free from HIV whose lives could have been very different. But we cannot celebrate until mothers and children in every Last Mile community are able to access this same support. Please help our Mentor Mothers and us to go even further. Support the Triple It Appeal and have your gift matched twice-over by a small number of generous private donors. But don't hang about: Triple-It closes on 15 December. https://lnkd.in/eiSGyDq9 * only 2 cases of transmission in 1,700 pregnancies over the past 6 years - in a region where 27% of the population has HIV.

🌈 ℹ️ Such an important day to raise awareness, and start to squash that stigma that still reigns so strongly over the topic of HIV. TV programmes over the last years such as “It’s a Sin” 📺 have brought the topic in to people’s homes, and now we are so close to eradicating HIV, with huge steps still being taken, such as the “opt-out” testing being introduced in some hospitals. This is all thanks to amazing charities such as the Terrance Higgings Trust. If you donate today - it will be doubled. Visit their page for more info ⬇️ From Terrence Higgings Trust: Today is #WorldAIDSDay, an important moment each year to remember the millions tragically lost to the HIV epidemic and when we wear our red ribbon with pride in remembrance and solidarity. We stand on the shoulders of all of those no longer with us. World AIDS Day is also a chance to celebrate how far we’ve come and all the progress made, including looking ahead to a brighter future where new HIV cases are a thing of the past and the goal we’re fighting so hard for – ending new transmissions by 2030. But HIV-related stigma remains a huge barrier to that, with 3 in 4 people living with HIV having experienced stigma and discrimination as a result of their HIV status, including in healthcare, from family and friends, and in the workplace. To end the epidemic and halt new HIV cases, we also need to end the stigma and bust the out-dated myths surrounding HIV once and for all. But we can’t do it alone and we need your support.
We're thrilled to announce that from today, when you donate to Terrence Higgins Trust, your generosity will automatically be DOUBLED thanks to match funding via the Big Give. With World AIDS Day fast approaching, there's no better time to show your support. All this means double the money, double the impact, double the support for those who need us and even more progress towards our life-changing goal of ending new HIV cases by 2030. Thanks to LeaSuwanna and Eugene for sharing their stories of diagnosis and explaining why what we do at Terrence Higgins Trust is so vital in this brand new film. "Terrence Higgins Trust provides support, counselling and crucially helps tackle the stigma experienced by so many people living with HIV," explains Eugene. Please share this amazing film and, if you can, donate to mark this World AIDS Day on 1 December: www.tht.org.uk/donate (donations are matched Tuesday 28 November - Tuesday 5 December).

🩸 New Era in Blood Donation: Inclusivity and Safety! 🌈 Recent changes in FDA guidelines mark a significant step towards inclusivity in blood donation, allowing more individuals to contribute to saving lives. Here's what's new and why it matters. 💡 A Shift Towards Inclusivity: 🏳️🌈 Expanded Eligibility: Gay and bisexual men in monogamous relationships can now donate blood without abstaining from sex, thanks to new federal guidelines. 🔄 From Restriction to Reflection: The move is part of a yearslong effort to reverse restrictions based on sexual orientation, focusing instead on individual risk assessment. Understanding the New Guidelines: 📋 Individualized Screening: Potential donors are evaluated based on sexual behavior, partners, and other risk factors, rather than sexual orientation alone. 🚫 Safety Measures: Restrictions still apply for recent high-risk activities and individuals on PrEP medication, ensuring the safety of the blood supply. The Impact of Change: 🤝 Community Engagement: The new rules are expected to engage and educate communities, overcoming years of distrust and opening up a new pool of potential donors. 🎉 Stories of Inclusion: Blood center employees and donors share stories of excitement and emotional significance as they contribute to someone's survival. As we celebrate this progressive change, let's continue to advocate for safe, inclusive, and ethical practices in blood donation. Every drop counts in saving lives! 🌍 📣 Read more about the new FDA rules for blood donation here: For years, he couldn't donate at the blood center where he worked. Under new FDA rules, now he can: https://lnkd.in/gTsi9y7G Engage with Us: 💬 Share your thoughts on the new blood donation guidelines! 🩸 If you're eligible, consider donating blood and sharing your experience! #BloodDonation #InclusiveHealthcare #FDAGuidelines #SaveLives #HealthEquality

📕 This week the Information Commissioner fined a charity working with people living with HIV for a data breach where emails intended for those on a HIV support programme were sent to 264 email addresses using CC rather than BCC. This is a common data breach by organisations and is relevant to all charities, particularly those working with vulnerable people where special category data may be involved, thus making any breach more serious. The recent case is an example of how one simple mistake can have a significant impact on the lives of people you work with and potentially cause damage to the reputation of your organisation. ✔ Read the case report here: https://lnkd.in/eQKjm-FV ✔ The ICO issued guidance last year setting out law and good practice around protecting personal information when sending bulk emails: https://lnkd.in/e4U7tJCC #dataprotection #charities #safeguarding

Want to make a real difference in the lives of women affected by HIV/AIDS? Under Enactus JMC, a student-led NGO, Project Iffat collects barely used soap bars from hotels, which are then upcycled by HIV-positive women. Established in 2017, Project Iffat embodies hope, resilience, and empowerment. It covers 10 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. It is a source of dignity and income for our beneficiaries from Burari, a beacon of light for marginalised communities; particularly for women affected by HIV/AIDS. Now, you can be part of this movement with 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞- our crowdfunding campaign. The pandemic disrupted our operations, but your support will reignite our efforts.
