Building the happiest and most productive engineering organization to drive client success.

If you're hiring for software engineering leadership, ask the software engineers what percentage of their time they want the new hire to spend writing code. You can even ask about normal days vs incident/deadline/panic days separately. Whatever. Just ask what percentage THEY want to see. And then, when you're shocked by how close to 0% it is, ask them why. (Their answers will likely be more specific, but it's because leadership is more effective when they lead.)

100% agree. It would be nearly impossible to give the team your attention, leadership peers and uppers your attention, and write quality code. Focus on one skillset, and leave the coding to the engineers!
