Terumo’s global development rapidly accelerated during the 1990s.
Starting with the acquisition of the cardiovascular division from 3M in the United States in 1999, the Terumo Group has expanded its global presence by incorporating various overseas companies from different fields.
🔹In 2002, Vascutek Ltd. (U.K.), a manufacturer of vascular grafts, joined the Terumo Group.
🔹In 2006, MicroVention Inc. (U.S.), a neurovascular intervention device company, Joined the Terumo Group.
🔹In 2011, CaridianBCT Holding Corp. (currently Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies), a global leader in the blood transfusion industry, and neurovascular intervention device company, joined the Terumo Group.
From the 2000s, Terumo deepened its focus to provide solutions for diverse issues, such as improving the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases, and enhancing the safety and efficacy of medical settings.
Terumo has been providing new treatment options, through its advancement in regenerative medicine, expansion of intravascular intervention possibilities, and strengthening blood and cell therapy technologies.
