The FDA’s decision to decline approval for MDMA-Assisted Therapy for PTSD is a disappointment, but it’s not the end of the road. Instead, it’s a call to action. 📣 With an additional Phase 3 trial required, the path forward may take 2-5 years and millions of dollars. Now, more than ever, we need policy changes that cut through red tape and funding to support this critical research. That’s where Texans for Greater Mental Health comes in. We’re driving a research-first, science-led approach to make psychedelic reform a reality in Texas and beyond. This is Texas—what starts here changes the world. As many know I have been an AFSP Talk Saves Lives Trainer for quite a few years now. It is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I lead a 45-60 minute "Introduction to Suicide Prevention" training "live" online. This training covers the scope of this leading cause of death, what the research has found to be the warning signs and risk factors of suicide, and the strategies that prevent it. Please reach out if you are struggling or if you are interested in this training. We can come together to #StartTheConversation
This #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, let’s come together to #StartTheConversation by having important, meaningful discussions. This year’s theme is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” – which starts with embracing difficult conversations, breaking the stigma, leaning on those around you and connecting those in need to resources like the 988-suicide hotline. Stigma has been a longtime barrier to accessing mental health care and although there has been progress, there’s still work to be done. Aimee Prange, MSW, LCSW, discusses the importance of normalizing the conversation around #suicide and debunks a common misconception in this Resources for Living video. This #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek, we’re reminded that 1 in 5 U.S. adults will experience mental illness this year (NAMI, 2023). That’s not just a statistic—it’s a call to action. Behind each number is a life, a story, and the need for groundbreaking research that can spark change and save lives. At BeyondBound, we’re passionate about supporting researchers who tackle mental health challenges. Our mission is to make the IRB process smoother and faster, so your work can focus on creating solutions that break the stigma and deliver hope. Let’s turn research into real-world impact. 🌟 #MentalHealthMatters #PhD #Dissertation #ResearchEthics #IRBSupport #MentalHealthResearch

This page from "The Rising Storm" contains some of the toughest research I've ever done. For me, these tragic numbers are not just charts filling a page. They are challenges facing *people*—including people whose names and faces I know. People I love. People I've lost. Let it serve as an important reminder that the labor force *is* people. So the challenges facing people are challenges that likely will, by extension, affect the labor force. Caring about our future workforce means caring about our future workers. Our mission at Lightcast is "to unlock new possibilities in the labor market." That may sound lofty and a bit distant. But in reality, it's personal. Unlocking possibilities in the labor market means unlocking new possibilities for the people around us. Many of the individuals represented on this bleak page of the report are still unaware of the value they bring to those around them. Many don't yet understand how much their skills and interests and aspirations matter and can open doors for them now and in the future. (And believe it or not, Lightcast data really can help to show them what's possible—and how to get there.) So I'll say it again: these numbers are people. And people matter. If there's one major takeaway I hope everyone internalizes after reading "The Rising Storm" and the Demographic Drought research that preceded it, it's this: Value people more. Starting with the ones you interact with today.
We discuss two important factors regarding the plummeting LFPR (labor force participation rate) of Prime Age Men (25-54) in the US on Page 25 of our report, THE RISING STORM. https://lnkd.in/eNf-Yjyy This eye-catching chart looks at the Addiction numbers. There were 232 MILLION work days missed each year due to alcohol issues, alone. Let that sink in. cc: Ron Hetrick Hannah Grieser Daniel Botkin Seemed appropriate to post this today, World Mental Health Awareness day. https://lnkd.in/ektdzbtU #worldmentalhealthawareness #addiction #LFPR #laborshortage #TheRisingStorm #WeAreLightcast

May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. Mental health can have a big impact on overall health. Our providers take care of the whole person including behavioral medicine and mental health. We offer care and treatment for patients with depression, anxiety and many other behavioral problems. Our patients with depression stay in frequent contact with a care manager, who teams with the provider to coordinate care. This approach to treatment achieves remission rates from the symptoms of depression 6-10 times more frequently than usual care. Entira Family Clinics offer appointments with psychologists from MidWest Center for Personal Development. This arrangement provides our patients better, and more convenient, access to mental health counselors, as well as improved communication between your provider and therapist. #Mentalhealth matters for everyone, but did you know that certain cultural factors can contribute to negative beliefs about mental health within #BIPOC communities? Some of these factors include cultural norms and expectations, historical trauma and mistrust, lack of representation in mental health services, and limited access to culturally competent care. Let's break the stigma and build understanding together. It's time to #BreakTheStigma, listen, learn, and support each other. This report illuminates my motivation to obtain my counseling degree ('23) and transform my business. It emphasizes the necessity of centering young people of color, particularly college-age and below. They must become the focus of any effort to enhance and elevate the focus and resources around mental health. #souldeepmoment #mentalhealth #youngpeople #collegestudents #BIPOC

As we wrap up this month's #MentalHealthAwareness campaign, let's shine a light on mental health in Black communities. Today, across our nation, more than seven million Black and African American individuals are living with a mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia. At PCA America, we are committed to addressing mental health in all communities, especially communities of color. Research from our signature home visiting program, Healthy Families America (HFA) shows that HFA families are accessing the supports needed to thrive and experiencing improved mental health.
