As I continue my journey as a principal, I’ve had the privilege of learning not only about leadership but also about the transformative power of collaboration and community engagement. Leadership, to me, is about empowering others—whether that’s my team of educators, our students, or the broader school community. Cultivating trust and fostering a growth mindset are critical in creating a space where everyone can thrive. Recently, as I enjoyed my morning cup of coffee, I paused and took note of my mug—one that I use frequently but often overlook. It features a large picture of Jane Addams and Mary McDowell, two pioneers in the settlement house movement and some of America’s first social workers. I purchased this mug as an eighth-grade student during a visit to the Hull House Museum for a National History Day project. At the time, I didn’t realize how deeply that experience would shape my life's work. Learning about the settlement houses and the social impact of these women has guided my passion for creating spaces where people—students, educators, and communities—can learn, grow, and make a lasting impact on their world. Thank you, Mrs. Brasser, for assigning that project—what I once saw as just an assignment, now feels like a key moment in my own journey. It's a reminder of how small learning experiences can have an enormous impact on the trajectory of our lives. #Leadership #Education #GrowthMindset #LearningJourney #CommunityImpact #Gratitude #Teaching #EducationalLeadership

We began our school with a mission--a focus on serving the community in a very specific way. Yet in the day-to-day grind sometimes we are led away from our mission and purpose because we lost sight of it. This doesn't have to be the case. In my book, The Ten Indicators of High-Performing Charter Schools, you can quickly identify where you can focus so that you not only remain true to the mission, but you can also steadily increase the influence you have in your community. Based on 20+ years of research, these Indicators will guide you to a plan that can dramatically improve morale, effectiveness, and influence--within and outside of the school building. You can order your copy by clicking here. You'll get it along with resources and key strategies to accelerate your school's impact.

At Brighton Our World, we often ponder an essential question: "Who will lead us tomorrow?" The answer lies in today's children, and our mission is to nurture these future leaders through compassion, community, and education. BOW is dedicated to building the leaders of tomorrow by instilling the values of generosity and service from a young age. Our programs, such as children helping children, not only teach kids how to give back but also the importance of empathy and understanding. These experiences are foundational in shaping thoughtful, proactive, and caring leaders who will navigate the challenges of the future with grace and determination. By supporting their growth through scholarships, educational initiatives, and community involvement, we ensure that these young minds receive the tools they need to succeed and make a difference. Our aim is not just to develop their academic skills but to foster a sense of responsibility and a commitment to making the world a better place. Join us as we invest in our children today, so they are ready to lead us into tomorrow. In the early years, children’s brains build the academic, social, and emotional skills necessary for a happy and successful adulthood. Positive experiences during this time can give children a strong foundation for success – which benefits not just the child, but the community, economy, nation, and world. Learn how our new #CenterForBusinessChampions connects child development and business leaders to build their own national partnerships to create a brighter future for everyone: https://lnkd.in/eRhWdVnP Image description: A blue background with a white box in the middle with the Center for Business Champions logo in it. WHAT DO I DO NEXT? I hear this in various forms from Lead pastors all over the world. Oh, it won't be the first thing that's said or even the second, but as the conversation unfolds there are the not-too-infrequent admissions: 👉 I know something needs to change but I'm not sure specifically what. 👉 We've been plateaued for the last couple of years & I'm not quite sure how to get things moving. 👉 I'm putting on my brave, "got this" game face, but I've done everything I know to do. 👉 I've been inspired at several conferences each year but I need to know steps. 👉 If things don't shift, then I'm going to have to ask some pretty big questions. Though, I realise there's no "silver bullet", there are reproducible comprehensive steps to take to get your church back into momentum. It is not as elusive as you might think. Maybe it's time for a chat >> https://lnkd.in/d64bBVZP #leadpastors #seniorpastors #pastorlife #churchleadership #churchgrowth #ministry #ministrylife #ministrymindset #churchplanting #churchplanters #pastorsnetwork #pastorsandleaders #churchcommunity #churchfamily #churchmentor #ministrymentor #ministrytraining #michaelmurphy #leaderscape #Xlr8

I was doing some research the other day and trying to figure out where The Effective Church Group stands among church consulting firms in the United States. We're not the biggest, and our staff is 100% deployed, working from their home offices. This setup helps us keep overhead low. We don't have a dedicated marketing team—most of that work is done by me, with the invaluable help of Erika, my right-hand assistant. We weren’t the first church consulting company in the United States, but we were among the pioneers. Back in the '80s, when the church growth movement was at its peak, leaders like Win Arn with the Church Growth Institute, Lyle Schaller, Herb Miller, and a few others got serious about opening their own consulting firms. Bill Easum launched 21st Century Strategies in 1984. The Southern Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, and many other denominations created their own coaching and consulting teams, which are still active today. However, most of the original independent church consulting firms have faded into history. As far as I can tell, The Effective Church Group is the oldest independent consulting company in the US. We changed our name when the 21st century arrived because the original name no longer seemed future-focused, and in 2003, it felt a bit presumptuous to rename ourselves 22nd Century Strategies. 😊 One of the things Bill Easum was committed to was succession. He and I both believe that the corpus of information, data, statistics, and wisdom we've accumulated over the past 40 years is too valuable to be lost just because the principal didn’t have the foresight to raise up a successor. I won't always be at the helm of The Effective Church Group, but my commitment is to pass this company on to new leadership when the time is right, ensuring that our mission continues and eventually making that presumptuous 22nd Century Strategies name a reality. 🌟 Thank you for trusting us to help your church grow and thrive. Our dedication to providing valuable insights and strategies remains steadfast, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you. #effectivechurch #churchgrowth #pastors #church #leadershipdevelopment #communityimpact
