Seasoned Natural Gas Industry Expert with 19+ Years of Experience in Market Analysis, Regulatory Compliance, feasibility study, and Gas Market Opening Strategy
Exciting times for offshore development! ️ -The energy market is buzzing with high prices and rising demand, leading to a surge in offshore projects. Here's a look at 5 developments to watch in 2024: 1️⃣ BP's Kaskida: This giant field in the Gulf of Mexico could see a final investment decision (FID) this year, potentially unlocking billions in investment and pushing the boundaries of deepwater drilling technology. 2️⃣ ExxonMobil's Whiptail: Guyana's sixth oil project is on track for an FID in Q1 2024. This project will add significantly to ExxonMobil's production capacity in the country. 3️⃣ Eni's Coral Norte FLNG: Following the success of Coral Sul, a second FLNG project in Mozambique could be greenlit by the end of 2024. This would be a major step for Mozambique's LNG ambitions. 4️⃣ TotalEnergies' Cameia/Golfinho: Angola's first production in the Kwanza basin could be on the horizon with a potential FID this year. This project, boasting a new FPSO and focus on reduced flaring, could pave the way for further development in the region. 5️⃣ Block 58, Suriname (APA Corp. & TotalEnergies): Detailed engineering is underway for this large oil project, with an FID expected by year-end. This project signifies Suriname's growing importance in the oil and gas landscape. -Wood Mackenzie predicts a busy year for offshore projects in 2024 with up to 30 FID decisions possible, 8 more than 2023. This represents potential investments of $125 billion targeting 14 billion barrels of oil equivalent. -National oil companies and majors will be driving this growth, particularly in deepwater projects due to their economic advantages and lower emissions intensity. The average payback period for these projects is expected to be less than 8 years.

The first long-distance U.S. pipeline was completed 152 years ago today! 🛢️🌎 On August 1st, 1872, the United States made a massive leap in industrial advancement by completing its first long-distance oil pipeline. Spanning over a hundred miles, this technological marvel transformed how oil was transported, marking the beginning of a new era in the energy sector. The legacy of this pioneering pipeline reminds us of the power of innovation to shape our future. The spirit of progress that fuelled the original pipeline's creation is just as relevant now as we tackle new challenges and strive towards a more sustainable and efficient energy landscape. #NESFircroft #EngineeringAchievements #Innovation

🔵 SPE Brazil Tech Tuesday 🔵 📍 Where: SPE Brazil Section Youtube Channel (Tech Tuesdays are also accessible to all other SPE sections in LATAM and elsewhere) 🗓 When: April 09th at 6:30PM UTC-3 ➡ In this Tech Tuesday edition, we'll go through a brief history of source control & recent advances in subsea well response. The 2nd part of the event will be a panel discussion with the moderators. Speaker: 🔷 Brett Morry - Subsea Manager - Oil Spill Response Ltd Moderators: 🔷 Pierre-Edouard (PE) Vincent - Completions and Well Intervention Manager - Trident Energy 🔷 Fred Maia (FM Eng e Consultoria Óleo Gas Engenharia e Consultoria) - Regulations Consultant - F&M ➡ Abstract: Brett Mory with OSRL will in this SPE Brazil Tech Tuesday present a brief history of Source Control (started on land with the famous pictures of blowouts in the USA, late 19th century), then moving to the offshore search for oil & gas, incidents, catastrophic spills (infamous incidents from the 80’s) and more recently as the industry kept pushing the envelope, major offshore blowouts from the late 2000’s (Australia and GoM). This will lead our discussion to consider the potential impact of source control incidents, and how Subsea Well Response is currently evolving with typical options like Capping, Containment, and Relief Well Drilling also being complemented by additional (necessary) work on preparedness, leveraging global expertise, and mutual support between actors in the industry. At the end of the presentation, a short Q&A will be held with the audience and moderators. #wearespe #techtuesday #oilandgas #subsea #wellresponse SPE Brazil Section
